Times were fun the last time Hearthstone went to Poland
ESL Legendary Series will travel to Katowice, Poland in the middle of March for a $30,000 tournament, becoming the third major LAN event for that month.
The Hearthstone scene is waking up from its slumber and some players are about to get nice paydays in March, as more and more announcements for major events keep coming in. Fans were already preparing for the $60,000 clash between Europea and China on March 24th when Viagame announced just hours ago their plan for a $25,000 just three days later.
That's not going to be all, apparently. ESL's latest press release speaks of a $30,000 offline tournament to be held in Katowice, Poland. The event will be under the Legendary Series brand and will feature sixteen players, chosen based on different criteria.
One of the slots will be taken by the winner of the upcoming Legendary Series finals which are to go on stream this weekend in Burbank, California. Attending these finals will be players like Janne "Savjz" Mikkonent, Keaton "Chakki" Gil, Johan "Darkwonyx" Hansson and Max "Max" Simpson, among others, which will now be fighting for a bigger prize than a cut from the $20,000 purse.
Seven other slots will be handed out to players "invited on merit". The last eight will be filled through three separate qualifiers: one for Europe and Russia (five slots), one for Poland (two slots) and one for the US (one slot).
Similar to HouseCup #2, Legendary Series Katowice will have 230 World Championship points to hand out.
This will be Hearthstone's second trip to the esports capital of Poland after IEM hosted a small, four-man event in March last year, won by Marcin "Gnimsh" Filipowicz and also featuring thge names of Dan "Artosis" Stemkoski, Jakub "Lothar" Szygulski and Philipp "SineX" Zoschke.
