Frostivus has arrived in the game of Dota 2 as was expected, but it has brought with it an unexpected surprise in the form of Dota 2 patch 7.35.
The season’s first Dota 2 patch typically arrives after crossing into the new year, but this year, the first big patch has arrived early as a surprise along with Frostivus! Dota 2 patch 7.35 has been released in the middle of ESL One Kuala Lumpur, and it brings with it a plethora of changes.
Frostivus
Frostivus is all about cosmetics! You play Dota 2, make progress on the Spirit Meter, and earn chests that contain holiday-themed sets.
The sets are quite fascinating, with the two best ones probably being the Primal Beast set and the Wraith King Arcana style unlock.
Quality of Life Updates
The quality of life updates are bound to make life a bit easier while playing Dota 2, with things like tower range indicators and teleport timers added to the game.
Items
There are returning items, new items, removed neutral items, returning neutral items, and new neutral items! A lot of items have had recipe changes, which will massively alter item builds for a lot of heroes. GosuGamers will have a detailed article on items in the next few days, but here’s a quick look at two new ones that stand out – Khanda and Parasma!
Heroes
Over 115 of the 124 heroes have been changed in Dota 2 patch 7.35! Only a handful of heroes have been untouched. If the items weren’t enough, the hero changes will definitely trigger a massive meta shift. GosuGamers will do a deep dive into which heroes are the big winners and big losers of the patch. As a final note, Valve has also doubled down on getting the naughty smurfs out of the game, and that includes the smurf accounts of professional players as well. There will also be punishments handed out to griefers and the likes, with the most severe punishment being account banning.
There’s definitely a lot to get to in the next few days. The best way, as always, is to jump into Dota 2 and play a few games to get an idea of how the new meta will shape up.
