Fortnite: Battle Royale’s battle pass gets a price hike while Fortnite Crew adds more value.

Epic Games’ multiplayer game hub Fortnite is adding a whole lot of value to its Fortnite Crew subscription. The game’s upcoming throwback game mode, Fortnite OG is getting its own unique battle pass – likely with returning Chapter 1 cosmetics – while the regular Battle Royale battle pass is getting its price bumped up from 950 to 1000 V-Bucks.

However, there is an added bonus for Fortnite Crew subscribers: from now on, all of Fortnite’s battle passes will be included in the monthly subscription at no additional cost, on top of the usual perks.

Fortnite is expanding upon its battle pass system

Epic Games is making a few tweaks to its Fortnite battle pass – or rather, all of its Fortnite battle passes. The developer recently announced that last year’s limited-time Fortnite OG season, which brought back the battle royale game’s original map and weapons, would return as a permanent game mode alongside regular Battle Royale. This week, it announced that Fortnite OG would also feature its own separate battle pass on top of the regular seasonal pass.

This OG Pass will be Fortnite’s fourth battle pass in total, including the main Battle Pass, the Music Pass and the Lego Pass. That might sound like a lot of content to grind through, but keep in mind that player progression is now unified across all battle passes. This means that it doesn’t matter which mode you play, as you’ll progress through all four battle passes simultaneously anyway.

Additionally, Fortnite Crew’s $12 monthly subscription is also getting a massive value add: all four of these aforementioned battle passes will now be included in the subscription, instead of just the regular battle pass, at no additional cost. However, players who prefer to buy the Battle Pass on its own will see a slight price increase, going up from 950 to 1000 V-Bucks.

New Fortnite Crew subscribers (after December 1, 2024) will also see another change: they’ll only be able to claim premium rewards on all battle passes when they have an active subscription. That means you won’t be able to subscribe, cancel your subscription and continue claiming premium rewards on the battle pass any longer.

We still don’t know exactly what the Fortnite OG pass will look like, but it’s likely to bring back classic cosmetics from the battle royale mode’s Chapter 1 days. For now, we do know that battle royale is set to kick off Chapter 6 this December.
