Bethesda has released all-new gameplay from its upcoming Indiana Jones game.
Publisher Bethesda Softworks and developer MachineGames have released a gameplay deep dive video to show off their upcoming game, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The iconic archeologist is embarking on a globetrotting adventure in this upcoming game, with Troy Baker stepping into the titular role to replace Harrison Ford.
This new gameplay deep dive shows off the puzzles, combat, and various locations players can expect to see, including a little Southeast Asian representation in the form of Thailand:
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle shows off globetrotting adventure
MachineGames, lead developer of the beloved Nazi-punching franchise Wolfenstein, is ready to show off more gameplay from its next big game, which also happens to feature copious amounts of Nazi-punching: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The game puts players in the whip-cracking, saddlebag-toting shoes of its titular protagonist Indiana Jones, with a new story set in between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade.
MachineGames has released a gameplay deep dive for the upcoming Indiana Jones game, showing off a more detailed look at Indy’s upcoming journey to uncover the secret to an ancient power connected to the Great Circle. The video shows off this game’s Uncharted-like gameplay loop of solving puzzles, travelling to breathtaking locations and meeting a large cast of colourful characters.
The key difference between Nathan Drake and Indiana Jones is that the former has no problem killing mobs of locals in pursuit of his treasure. Indy is a lot less bloodthirsty by comparison, and thus has to rely on pure stealth or the use of his bare fists. Expanding Indy’s skill set using ‘Adventure Points’ will also allow him to pick up new abilities like Lucky Hat, which lets him keep going after a fatal blow – so long as he is able to crawl towards his hat and put it back on.
The gameplay deep dive also shows off a few locations players can expect to travel to as Indy, including but not limited to Sukhotai (Siam/Thailand, Southeast Asia) and Gizeh (Egypt, Africa). Here is the developer’s description of the game:
Uncover one of history’s greatest mysteries in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, a first-person, single-player adventure set between the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade. The year is 1937, sinister forces are scouring the globe for the secret to an ancient power connected to the Great Circle, and only one person can stop them – Indiana Jones. You’ll become the legendary archaeologist in this cinematic action-adventure game from MachineGames, the award-winning studio behind the recent Wolfenstein series, and executive produced by Hall of Fame game designer Todd Howard.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle launches on December 9 on Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game will also arrive on PlayStation 5 sometime next year.
