Overwatch 2 Season 13: Spellbinder arrives with My Hero Academia collab

Overwatch 2 has unveiled its 13th season of content: Spellbinder. This season brings lots of Halloween-themed content to the game, along with another anime crossover. First off, battle pass owners can look forward to gaining a new Mythic skin for Widowmaker, transforming her into a witchy potion-maker with, as Blizzard puts it, “spell-like abilities in her kit.”

Overwatch’s annual Halloween Terror event is also returning, with a brand-new PvP mode called Junkenstein’s Laboratory. This mode will be available from October 15 to November 4, allowing players to use cursed talent cards to alter hero abilities in Team Deathmatch. Older co-op modes like Junkenstein’s Revenge and Wrath of the Bride are also returning this year with new challenges.

Season 13 also adds Overwatch 2’s latest anime collaboration with My Hero Academia, which includes cosmetics to turn various heroes on the roster into characters from the anime franchise. Tracer is Deku, Reinhardt is All Might, Juno is Uravity, Reaper is Tomura Shigaraki and Kiriko is Himiko Toga in this collaboration, which consists of five paid skins along with some free sprays and a charm.

Circuit Royale, Dorado, Numbani and Havana are also getting map updates to make things less oppressive for attackers at the start of a match. Additionally, Gilded Aspects have been added to the game to allow players to further upgrade their Mythic skins with new black and gold variants. These Gilded Aspects will be added to more Mythic skins in the future.

Players should also stick around to watch the end of the trailer, which seems to be teasing Overwatch 2’s next hero: a Scottish Tank who is either named Phreak, or belongs to a new faction called Phreak.

Overwatch 2 Season 13: Spellbinder launches on October 15, 2024.
