Pokemon TCG Pocket mobile game announces release date

Don’t be fooled by its name: this isn’t exactly the Pokemon Trading Card Game you grew up with. The Pokemon Company is remixing its iconic card game for a virtual format, keeping everything players loved about the original game - from multiplayer battles to collectible cards - while remixing its combat gameplay for quick and easy matches. You’ll still open packs and battle other players, but the game now has more streamlined battle rules compared to its physical counterpart.

Titled Pokemon TCG Pocket, the mobile game will be free-to-start with two free booster packs available for players to open every day. A new kind of card is also being introduced called ‘immersive’ cards, featuring 3D art that you can jump into and interact with. The game will also feature returning illustrations from the physical card game, and all-new cards on top of that.

For the collectors out there, you’ll also be able to use binders and display boards to show off the cards you own and share them with others. You can also participate in battles alone or with friends in multiplayer, but The Pokemon Company has not shared this game’s new ruleset just yet. Pokemon TCG Pocket is now open for pre-registration on the Google Play Store and the App Store.
