Zenless Zone Zero: Should you pull for Qingyi or Jane Doe in version 1.1?

Both Qingyi and Jane Doe have unique and powerful offerings that could be useful to your teams.

There’s only a few days left before the release of version 1.1 of Zenless Zone Zero, HoYoverse’s action RPG. And with the release of Zenless Zone Zero's version 1.1 comes two banners for two S-rank characters: Qingyi and Jane Doe.

Each brings a unique set of skills and mechanics to the table, offering diverse gameplay experiences and strategic options. But which character might be worth it for you and your current teams?

In this article, we'll break down the pros and cons of pulling for each banner, and the potential team compositions to help you decide which character to pull for.

Qingyi: Master of stun and AoE damage

Qingyi is an S-rank electric stun unit known for her ability to apply stun effects and deal impressive AoE damage.

Abilities and playstyle

Qingyi excels in stunning enemies and boosting her team's damage output. Her skills increase stun multipliers, allowing her and her teammates to deliver substantial damage.

Unlike other stun characters, Qingyi can convert stun damage into attack power, making her a formidable DPS alternative.

She stands out among stun characters due to her straightforward core passive activation, requiring only an attack-type character or someone from the same squad or faction. This makes her highly versatile and easy to integrate into most team, and potentially even superior to Lycaon, who could currently the strongest S-Rank stun unit in the game.

Team compositions Qingyi might fit into

Qingyi fits well into various team compositions due to her flexible passive requirements. First, she belongs to the Criminal Investigation Special Response Team in New Eridu Public Security, which is the same faction as Zhu Yuan.

If you’ve pulled and invested in Zhu Yuan, Qingyi will be a superior alternative to Anby, who’s currently one of the better teammates of Zhu Yuan when paired with Nicole. And with Nicole’s defense penetration, this trio can create powerful team dynamics. A potential team could include Ju Yuen and Nicole, forming a strong synergy with Qingyi's electric abilities.

Another potential team composition would revolve around Anton and Rina for a full Electric team. For Ice and Fire teams, Qingyi can still fit, with Ellen or Soldier 11 as the main DPS and a support character like Rina or Soukaku.

Is Qingyi worth pulling in 1.1?

Qingyi is likely to remain relevant as an electric stun character for several months. Her utility doesn't depend heavily on high investment, making her a great value for new players or those with limited resources.

If you don’t have Koleda or Lycaon in your team and only rely on Anby as a stun agent, pulling Qingyi is definitely worth it. The only concern with her banner is the other agents that come with it—Anby and Corin. If you're not trying to build either character, losing the 50/50 to these agents might be a bit painful.

Jane Doe: Physical Anomaly specialist

Jane Doe, on the other hand, is an S-rank physical anomaly agent with a playstyle that combines the kits of the Nekomata and Piper.

She introduces a unique approach to DPS, focusing on anomaly effects rather than traditional attack methods.

Abilities and playstyle

As an Anomaly unit, Jane specializes in accumulating anomaly effects quickly, potentially leading to additional disorder buffs.

As a Physical Anomaly character, she can accumulate Passion Stream to trigger the Passion State once it is full. In this state, Jane can unleash a series of rapid attacks that swiftly enhance her Attribute Anomaly, allowing her to inflict greater damage.

Team compositions Jane might fit into

At this point, team compositions for Jane aren’t very clear yet—but she can potentially replace Piper and Nekomata in team compositions.

Since Jane’s kit hasn’t been officially revealed yet except for what was shown in the version 1.1 livestream, Jane’s best teammates are still up for a bit of debate and discussion.  But one character that might fit with Jane is Grace—for a double-trouble anomaly team. Then take a support like Rina, who buffs anomaly damage.

Is Jane worth pulling in 1.1?

Anomaly characters like Jane are relatively affordable to build, as they don't rely heavily on crit rate and crit damage substats.

On top of this, Jane’s banner allows you to potentially get Seth, the new A-rank character who is the same faction as Qingyi and Zhu Yuan—so if you’re more of a collector, this might be more value for your resources.

Overall, Qingyi presents better investment value for most accounts, especially if you're seeking a reliable stun character.

While Jane is intriguing and may offer more long-term potential, Qingyi is more or less the safer choice for those with limited resources. She provides immediate benefits with her stunning abilities and easy team integration.

However, as the game evolves, the value of characters may change, so if you have a bit of extra and think Jane is really cool, she’s not exactly a waste either—just not an immediate need.

So, consider your current roster and future goals when deciding which character to pull for in version 1.1.

Who are you planning to pull for, or are you saving for future agents in version 1.2?
