Zenless Zone Zero rakes in $96 million in global mobile earnings in its launch month

HoYoverse has now completed its dominance over the gacha market with the release of Zenless Zone Zero.

Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ), HoYoverse’s newest urban fantasy game, netted over $96 million in global mobile revenue since its launch last July 4, making it the top earner in Sensor Tower’s July Revenue Report for mobile. ZZZ's actual revenue in its first month should also be much higher, as Sensor Tower's report does not account for PC and console platforms.

ZZZ's revenue in its launch month was very likely carried by its first pair of limited 5-star characters: Ellen Joe in the first half banner and Zhu Yuan in the currently active second half banner.

With ZZZ's chart-topping opening month, alongside the continued success of Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, developer HoYoverse has now further cemented its dominance over the gacha games market. With Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail regularly taking turns topping the charts in terms of global revenue since the latter's release last year, and with ZZZ now also in the mix, we could see all three main HoYoverse titles occupy the Top 3 spots for highest-earning gacha games in the world.

This comes thanks in part to HoYoverse’s scheduling strategy with its three main titles, as ZZZ was released during notably slow periods for Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail. With Genshin Impact also set to release its highly-anticipated version 5.0 update very soon, we can expect HoYoverse's flagship title to regain its top spot.

But for July, Sensor Tower's report also indicated that non-HoYoverse titles are still pulling in big numbers. Infold Games’ 3D Otome title Love and Deepspace notably took the second spot with $42.2 million in revenue thanks in large part to the release of its version 2.0 update, which left Genshin Impact in third with $36.3 million and Honkai: Star Rail in fourth with $35.5 million.
