Anime Japan brings fans exciting previews and announcements this coming weekend.
One of the year’s biggest anime conventions is happening this weekend: Anime Japan 2024. This one is a little different from the usual anime conventions seen year-round, as it involves the participation of many animation studios behind ongoing and upcoming anime projects, who usually come armed with plenty of announcements and previews prepared for the event. If you’re an anime fan, this is definitely a convention you’ll want to mark on your calendar - regardless of whether you’re actually able to attend it.
This is Anime Japan’s 11th year, after its 10th anniversary event in 2023 saw a whopping 100,000 visitors attend the show floor over two days. What can fans expect to see this year?
Anime Japan 2024: what to expect
If you’re able to attend Anime Japan 2024 in person, it’s bound to be a good time. Exclusive merchandise and plenty of photo opportunities will be available on the show floor, and as always, an abundance of cosplayers will be in attendance for fans to meet. If you’re looking forward to upcoming anime however, you’d have to check out Anime Japan’s three main stages, which studios will use to make big announcements and show off previews for their upcoming slate.
Everyone who can’t make it to Anime Japan can keep up with these announcements at home just by keeping an eye on the schedule. If your favourite show is on the schedule, it’s likely that the studio has something new to announce for it. For reference, Anime Japan 2023 saw announcements for Horimiya -piece-, My Hero Academia Season 7, Oshi no Ko, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, The Devil is a Part Timer!!, SpyxFamily and more. These announcements range from project reveals to cast member announcements and trailers, so there’s no telling what we’re going to get this weekend.
