Genshin Impact’s Lantern Rite event is set to come out on January 24.
From January 24 to February 9, 2025, Genshin Impact is pulling out all the stops for the annual Lantern Rite festival in Liyue, which is the game’s version of a Chinese New Year celebration! With the Traveler’s adventures finally coming to a close in Natlan with version 5.3, a much needed break full of fun is up for grabs in Liyue. The Lantern Rite festival this year is themed ‘Springtime Charms’, and will feature a new story, various mini-games, a free 4-star outfit for Xiangling, and a free Liyue 4-star character.
Lantern Rite 2025 minigames
Lantern Rite 2025 will play host to three themed minigames, Immortal Combat, Drills by Lamplight, and Gift Envelopes.
Immortal Combat is a game that utilises falling blocks and the co-op mode. Players will duel against each other using Rattan Figures, and must adjust the position of falling blocks to connect multiple blocks of the same type to damage an opponent’s Rattan Figure. Think of it like a high-stakes Tetris match!
In Drills by Lamplight, players will face off against enemies to complete stage goals. Secret Stratagems are set in place to aid in defeating opponents, with rich rewards on offer, depending on how high the final scores will be.
While in Gift Envelope, players will aid characters both foreign and local in Liyue to decorate Gift Envelopes. Decorations can be attained by going to handicraft stalls, and players will also be able to send Gift Envelopes to friends in-game.
Free Liyue 4-star character selector
Like in all Lantern Rite events, players will once again be rewarded with a free 4-star Liyue character of their choice. The characters in this year’s lineup will include Chongyun, Xinqiu, Gaming, Beidou, Ningguang, Xiangling, Yaoyao, Yanfei, Yun Jin, Xinyan, and the recently released Lan Yan.
Free Xiangling outfit
Alongside Hu Tao, Xiangling is set to receive an adorable new outfit for players to attain by participating in the Lantern Rite events. The outfit, called ‘New Year’s Cheer’, is a cute winter-themed number with a vibrantly red knit coat lined with fur, and an adorable beanie with Guoba’s signature ears.
