Diablo 4 is bringing highly-requested changes and vampire powers to players in Season 2.
Blizzard Entertainment popped up at Gamescom 2023 to announce Diablo 4 Season 2: Season of Blood. The game’s second season of content will be themed after vampires as they invade Sanctuary, bringing new abilities, story quests and bosses with them for players to sink their teeth into. Apologies for the pun.
Watch the trailer below:
In Diablo 4 Season 1, players had to beat back waves of Malignant Monsters suddenly appearing all over Sanctuary. This time, the land has to fend off yet another invasion of bloodthirsty monsters: vampires. According to Blizzard, a newly turned army of vampires has invaded Sanctuary at the behest of a mysterious master, causing chaos and slaying townsfolk en masse. The master’s sinister plans for their vampire army have yet to be uncovered, as if these brutal murders weren’t enough, but that’s where you come in.
Just like last season, the Wanderer will be pulled into a questline as they assist a vampire hunter named Erys - this time played by Hollywood actress Gemma Chan (Eternals, Raya and the Last Dragon) - to end the vampire army. As you progress through the questline, you’ll pick up new Vampiric Powers to add to your monster-slaying arsenal and face off against five more endgame bosses. These bosses come with the ability to target specific Unique and Uber Unique item drops.
Season 2 also comes with a few quality of life updates. Gems won't take up space in the inventory anymore (finally!), and all Paragon Points, Skill Points, Potion Charges and Obol capacity upgrades will carry over to new seasons. Status effects like Vulnerable and Overpower are getting big changes, potentially affecting builds across the board, and players can now target specific Unique and Ultra Unique items. All these changes are coming to both the Seasonal and Eternal Realms.
Diablo 4: The Season of Blood launches on October 17, 2023.
