Marvel Snap’s March season shines a spotlight on Mutants and Sentinels.
The next Marvel Snap season is upon us, and it heralds the end of Mutantkind. March’s season of content is called Days of Future Past, adapting the acclaimed comicbook storyline of the same name that revolved around a dystopian timeline for the X-Men. This season brings players all-new cards, variants, locations and more.
A new developer diary video from Second Dinner dives into March’s season in more detail, and it’s actually a pretty fun watch. You have to admire any card game that takes itself this seriously:
As always, a new season of Marvel Snap brings new challenges, an all-new Battle Pass and a host of cosmetics to earn like Card Backs, Titles and Variants. The biggest additions every season are always going to be the new cards, and this season’s new cards are pretty great for Destroy and Galactus decks. Here’s a list of the new cards:
- Nimrod (5/5): When this is destroyed, add a copy to each location.
- Kitty Pryde (1/0): You can return this to your hand to gain +2 Power.
- Master Mold (2/2): On Reveal: Add 2 sentinels to your opponents hand.
- Negasonic Teenage Warhead (3/4): After any card is played here, destroy this card and that card.
These new cards are all themed after the X-Men in one way or another, but it’s nice to see a fan favourite like Kitty Pryde finally make her way into the game. Nimrod will be March’s Season Pass card, given immediately to all players who purchase the Premium Pass at Tier 1. The rest of these cards will only be available as weekly Series 5 releases, and most players won’t get their hands on them until a few months down the line when a Series Drop happens.
Days of Future Past will also add a few locations, three of which have been confirmed below:
- Orchis Forge: After you play a card here, add a Sentinel to your hand.
- Krakoa: On Turn 5, takes over and plays both players’ cards for them.
- Asteroid M: After you play a 3 or 4-cost card, move it here.
Krakoa is already turning out to be controversial among players, given that it effectively throws every meta deck in the book out the window on Turn 6. Ego the Living Planet acts similarly to Krakoa, but it plays your cards for you for an entire game, and the same goes for the Agatha Harkness card up to Turn 5. Krakoa seems to be the most annoying out of all these, however, given that there’s little you can do to guarantee a victory. Orchis Forge on the other hand, could be fantastic for Devil Dinosaur decks.
An upcoming Variant Rush event will also throw in new steampunk-themed cosmetics for players to earn via Collector’s Reserves for a limited time only. Days of Future Past kicks off on March 6, which means that you only have three days left to grind out February’s Quantumania-themed Season Pass!
