One of the most iconic PlayStation gaming franchises of all time is set for a TV adaptation at Amazon Prime Video.

According to a report from Deadline, Amazon Studios is currently in negotiations to adapt PlayStation’s God of War gaming franchise for a live-action TV series. The series would hit Amazon’s streaming service Prime Video, if negotiations turn out well.

The report states that this series will come from the creators of The Expanse, Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, as well as the showrunner of The Wheel of Time, Rafe Judkins. Both shows are streaming on Prime Video. The God of War project will also be developed alongside Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation productions.

God of War is a fantasy action-adventure gaming franchise that follows the Spartan Kratos, as he explores a land bloodied by gods and monsters from Greek mythology. God of War (2018) and this year’s God of War: Ragnarok follow Kratos decades later, as he raises his son in the realm of Nordic mythology and falls out of favour with its gods. God of War: Ragnarok is set to bring the franchise’s Nordic era to a close.

PlayStation Productions has been aggressively adapting its gaming IP into TV shows and movies in the last two years alone. The Last of Us is already in production as a HBO series starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. Peacock has also picked up a Twisted Metal series starring Anthony Mackie. Ruben Fleischer, the director of Uncharted is also developing a Jak and Daxter movie, while John Wick director Chad Stahelski is helming a Ghost of Tsushima movie.

Amazon Studios has also been making a big push to adapt gaming properties for Prime Video. The company is developing a Fallout TV series starring Walton Goggins, from the creators of Westworld. A Mass Effect series is also in the works, though the project remains something of a mystery. This probably won’t be the last gaming property Amazon picks up for the foreseeable future, but God of War will be a hard one to do justice given the massive scope of its source material.
