Cyberpunk 2077’s long-delayed PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions might launch sooner than you think.
CD Projekt Red has announced an upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 livestream, and all signs point to a reveal of the game’s long-delayed PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S upgrades. While the developer is staying mum on this livestream’s contents, the Xbox Marketplace hints at an imminent release.
Eagle-eyed fans have noticed that Cyberpunk 2077 has been updated on the Xbox Marketplace to be ‘Optimised for the Series X|S’, with a special label exclusive to next-gen Xbox games. Currently, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S owners can only play the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game through backwards compatibility.
The game’s developer had previously announced these next-gen versions would arrive last year, but they were later delayed to a vague ‘Early 2022’ time window. Guess what? It is now early 2022. An advertisement touting a trial version of Cyberpunk 2077 for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S also popped up earlier today, suggesting that the game will soon get a downloadable next-gen demo.
CD Projekt Red’s upcoming livestream is branded a REDstream, which suggests that the company might also have something to show beyond Cyberpunk 2077. Cyberpunk 2077’s next-gen upgrades will be free for all console owners of the game, and a next-gen upgrade for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been announced. Hopefully, we get a sneak peek of The Witcher 3’s next-gen upgrade too.
