Honkai: Star Rail 2.7: Should you pull for Sunday or Jing Yuan?

Finally, after months and months of waiting, Honkai: Star Rail fans are getting their playable Sunday in Version 2.7.

And there’s a Jing Yuan rerun too! We know that with the highly anticipated arrival of Sunday, it’s no question who to pull for. But what about the undecided players who aren't in it for Sunday?

Sunday is set to be the upcoming top support for the upcoming Path of Remembrance, designed to provide massive DMG and energy regeneration buffs to characters and their summons. Meanwhile, Jing Yuan focuses on dealing massive damage with his Lightning-Lord summon. If you’re wondering who the best is to pull for, well, we’ve got you covered!

Pull for Sunday if you’re looking for the top support for upcoming Remembrance teams

Sunday is set to be the top support for the upcoming Path of Remembrance, which debuts next year with version 3.0. He will be in a similar situation as Ruan Mei, the top support for Break teams who became playable way before Break teams were even teased.

When it comes to Sunday’s kit, he’s like Bronya but better. He’s able to provide 100% action advance to a single ally target with his skill along with a damage buff that persists for 2 turns. The buffs provided by Sunday’s skill on an ally is also further boosted when that ally has a Summon, giving him more synergy with existing Summon characters like Jing Yuan, Topaz, and Lingsha. Of course, this list of characters who want to be supported by Sunday will expand with the release of the Path of Remembrance in Version 3.0.

Meanwhile, Sunday’s ultimate lets him designate a single ally target as the ‘Beatified’, granting them energy regeneration and Crit DMG buffs. Not only that, but Sunday is skill point neutral unlike Bronya, as he is able to regenerate one skill point when using his skill on the Beatified ally.

While Sunday is best suited in Summon teams, that doesn’t mean he is limited to that role. His well-rounded support skillset also makes him an excellent pick for Hypercarry teams, even if they don’t make use of his Summon DMG or energy regeneration bonus. So if you’re running Hypercarry teams for the likes of Acheron, Feixiao, or Jingliu, then Sunday should fit in nicely as an upgrade to Bronya or Sparkle.

Sunday’s future synergy with upcoming Remembrance characters make him a must-pull already, with his value only increasing further thanks to his ability to slot in nicely in existing Hypercarry teams. If you can only pull for one character in version 2.7, then we strongly recommend going for Sunday.

Pull for Jing Yuan if you need a versatile Summon DPS

Jing Yuan’s rerun is incredibly timed well with Sunday’s debut, as Sunday is his new best-in-slot support.

Jing Yuan is a DPS with an edge thanks to his Lightning-Lord summon, which acts as its own unit in the action order during battle. Jing Yuan can build stacks to buff his Lightning-Lord’s attack by using his skill and ultimate while also dealing damage to all enemies on the field.

Jing Yuan excels in Pure Fiction as he is a Path of Erudition character that can dish out multiple attacks per turn that hits entire waves of enemies. With that said, he is still competitive in Memory of Chaos as long as he has the right team to support him. If you want to run Jing Yuan in Apocalyptic Shadow, make sure you’re going up against a Lightning-weak enemy and have Ruan Mei to help him shred through their Toughness bars.

With Sunday coming in, Jing Yuan’s best team will now be Robin, Huohuo, and Sunday himself. With the brother-sister duo of Sunday and Robin, a well-built Jing Yuan can unleash as many as four attacks (two each from Jing Yuan himself and his Lightning-Lord) in a single turn! Huohuo can then keep the entire team alive while also helping Sunday keep Jing Yuan’s energy bat topped up.

While Jing Yuan is a strong unit given enough investment, he isn’t really someone we consider a must-pull in the same vein as Sunday. With new characters like Aglaea coming in with version 3.0, Jing Yuan will be facing some competition in his niche from characters that might end up doing his shtick better. With that said, feel free to pull for Jing Yuan if you like him as a character!

Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.7 is set to release in December 3, featuring two highly-anticipated 5-star characters in Sunday and Tingyun's ‘Fugue’ form. The preview livestream for Version 2.7 is set to premiere this Friday (November 22), and is expected to reveal upcoming content for both Version 2.7 and Version 3.0.

Trailblazers can expect an upcoming major update to Honkai: Star Rail in 2025 with version 3.0. Not only will that major update see the release of the new world Amphoreus, but it will also mark the addition of a new playable Path in the Path of Remembrance. The game has already revealed its first two Remembrance characters in Aglaea and the Remembrance Trailblazer. Herta’s 5-star version The Herta will also be introduced in this update.
