FISSURE Universe ends with yet another win for Team Falcons

Today we saw the playoffs come to an end at FISSURE Universe: Episode 3, with a grand final between Team Falcons and Team Spirit to decide the champions.

FISSURE Universe: Episode 3 has kept our Dota 2 thirst satiated since its Play-In stage began on August 18th, and today we saw the tournament come to a thrilling end. Having battled through the Group Stage in Group B, both Team Spirit and Team Falcons made their way into the grand finals – with both teams looking to claim glory right before The International 2024 kicks off.

Team Falcons continue to soar

Having met twice already during the event, Falcons and Spirit would be the final two teams remaining at FISSURE – as they both set their eyes on winning. However, Spirit had already come out on top twice so far, with a 2-1 win during the Group Stage before a convincing 2-0 victory in the upper bracket finals. For Falcons, their road to the final took them through Tundra Esports twice, as they went in search of revenge, having lost four series in a row across multiple tournaments against Spirit.

With a strong lead in Game 1, Falcons looked to open strong, but Spirit were never about to let things go too easily. Dragging the game out beyond the hour mark, they almost turned everything around, before the door was shut in their face. What followed was a pure stomp by Falcons in Game 2, which ended after only 25 minutes, taking them to championship point. Spirit, desperately needed a win to keep the best-of-five series going, seemed primed to pull themselves back, building up a strong lead in Game 3 – before a single fight lost them everything.

With a great pick off on Andreas “Cr1t-” Nielsen’s Shadow Demon, Spirit threw themselves into the team fight but did not account for the strength of their opponents and were quickly destroyed. Only a few minutes later, Falcons sailed to victory, claiming their fifth title of the year, and with this one coming so close to The International 2024, they are definitely one of the stronger squads. With that, FISSURE Universe: Episode 3 came to an end, with Team Falcons soaring above the rest.
