FISSURE Universe: Episode 3's Play-In Stage is over

Today saw the end of the Play-In stage of FISSURE Universe: Episode 3, with two teams now securing their spot in the upcoming Group Stage of the event.

With the Play-In stage of FISSURE Universe: Episode 3 beginning only a few days ago, the teams have been going through the paces to claim the final two spots in the Group Stage. Both 1win and G2 x iG had made their way into the upper bracket finals, which concluded on August 18th – with the final team making their way through earlier today.

iG enter the main event

iG came into the series after taking down both nouns and PSG Quest along their path, and it almost seemed as though they could wrap up game one within 20 minutes. With Zhibiao “BoBoKa” Ye on a Sniper, alongside Cheng “NothingToSay” Jin Xiang's Timbersaw and the Du “Monet” Peng Terrorblade, the team controlled the early period extremely well. However, thanks to some amazing Chronospheres from Nikita “Munkushi~” Chepurnykh, 1win remained alive – taking the game well over the hour mark. In the end, even with some fantastic team fighting, 1win succumbed in Game 1, and Game 2 would see iG clean things up quickly with the IO + Sven combination.

The seemingly unstoppable nouns

Now in the lower bracket finals, 1win had one last chance to make it into the Group Stage, with their challenger being determined during the course of the day. With a tough run through the Lower Bracket, nouns set themselves up for a huge best-of-five series against 1win. It was an immense series between these two teams, as both refused to relinquish a spot in the Group Stage of Fissure Universe.

With both teams first taking one game a piece, a stunning Game Three was seen, with yet another over-60-minute brawl. nouns managed to formulate a magnificent defense, with Divine Rapiers being picked up and constantly dropped, as they took the lead in the series. The team only required one last game to get themselves into the main event, as they claimed Mega Creeps in only 35 minutes before swiftly ending things.

With that, both Group A and B are now set for the beginning of the main event, as the eight teams get ready to play through three days of Group Stage action and attempt to make their way into the FISSURE Universe: Episode 3 Playoffs.
