With the conclusion of the decider matches today, the additional eight teams to join the group stage have been decided, finalizing the entire lineup.
The Play-in Stage at Riyadh Masters has come to an end. And let's just say it seems we've got a lot of explaining to do. Our predictions didn't quite pan out the way we imagined. South America showed up to play (both teams made it through to groups) while China… let's just say they didn't. The least expected Chinese team, LGD was the only one of the three to make it through.
It wasn't just China and South America that surprised everyone, SEA really came in strong. Given their competitive track record up to this event, Blacklist Rivalry were at most a dark horse in Group A.
For Group B Mouz came riding in on their (dark) horse as well – even though they DID just qualify for Elite League LAN in Peru last week. They took a 2:0 sweep over Virtus.pro in the decider matches to kick off the last day of the Play-in Stage. Stefan "Ulnit" Gavrila showing what a beast he is with everyone taking note for the post TI roster shuffles.
Then in a 90+ minute game 2 with an unbelievable Xiong "Pyw" Jiahan on Weaver LGD took the final spot with a 2:0 sweep over nouns.
The action will continue with the group stage on Wednesday, July 10th at 14:30 CEST.
