ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023

Two teams have already been eliminated at ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023

It is only the second day of ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 but two teams have already dropped from the competition ahead of the group stage ending.

The first LAN of the Dota 2 2023-24 season is already underway with the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 group stage. Teams have been testing the waters with their newly (re)formed rosters and the results are starting to come in.

After just two days of playing the groups, two teams have already been knocked out of contention. Unlucky.

While it doesn't necessarily mean it is the end of these rosters already, it certainly means that they either need more time to gel or something isn't working for them. The good news is that it is just the beginning and regardless of where their failings have stemmed from, the whole season lies ahead still.

ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 Group A

The lone South American team at the event, the newly formed Wawitas Sagazes, did not fare as well as the region's fans had hoped. South American Dota 2 does not have a clear successor to the throne after Evil Geniuses and beastcoast and with this early departure, it leaves many anxious about the early signs of struggles in the region.

They were able to take only a one-game victory off of BetBoom Team to tie up the series. The rest of their matches resulted in full losses.

ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 Group B

9Pandas debuted their revamped roster. They quietly swapped three players after returning from Seattle with just a 9th-12th placement, including captain Alexey "Solo" Berezin. However, for this event, Vladimir "RodjER" Nikogosian was unable to attend and Solo returned.

9Pandas had the same experience as Wawitas Sagazes – they managed to take only one victory off of Team Falcons. The rest of their series were 2:0 sweeps.

Two more teams will bid farewell tomorrow as the action continues with the last six series in the group stage.
