Malaysia’s capital city, Kuala Lumpur will play host for what will most likely be the last tournament of 2023.
With the Dota Pro Circuit discontinued by Valve, the new competitive season after TI12 is set to commence with a $1,000,000 LAN tournament brought to you by ESL One.
ESL One Kuala Lumpur will unfold from December 11th to 17th with twelve teams entering the competition. The event will take place at the largest exhibition centre in the country, MITEC (Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre). However, the venue will be open for the live audience only through the last three days of the event, December 15-17. While information regarding the attending teams and tournament format is yet to be revealed, ESL has already confirmed that only the top 6 teams will get the chance to play on stage, in front of the crowd.
Throughout all stages of the tournament, fans can expect to see artwork and references inspired by the tournament’s new theme: Rise Above Fate, ESL One mentioned in their press release.
Carolin Linden, Senior Marketing Creative at ESL FACEIT Group, had this to say about the new approach:
“Our theme draws inspiration from Kuala Lumpur’s mystic charm and rich folklore, inviting players and fans alike on a transformative journey. A journey led by none other than Nerif, the Oracle and great foreseer. His prophecies don't merely predict the future - they shape it. As courses collide in the grand battle for the crown, we'll have to wait and see if fate is something to be conquered. Knowing Oracle ... it could go either way.”
