After two rounds of group stages, the playoff brackets are set for the four remaining teams.
It started shy of two weeks ago, with two rounds of group stages. Now only PSG.LGD, BetBoom, Gaimin Gladiators, and Talon are left standing and will advance to the playoffs. The lion's share of the $1,000,000 prize pool is on the line.
Group Stage 1 saw most of WEU get wiped out. OG, Team Liquid, Team Secret, and Tundra Esports all went down early. Eight teams in total were eliminated leaving only eight teams to advance.
There was no rest for the wicked (or weary) though. Group Stage 2 began the next day for the remaining eight, who were pulled into one group.
China ended up on both sides of the rankings. PSG.LGD took a smooth first place with a 6:1 series record —dropping a series to BetBoom. On the other side, Team Aster struggled immensely and wasn't able to clinch a single series win at the end. They finished with a 0:7 series record.
BetBoom and Gaimin Gladiators (of course) had some outstanding performances and showed up to play. GG already has their invite secured after winning S19 but BetBoom needs to finish top 2 at the event to qualify.
It came down to a tiebreaker between the two to determine upper and lower bracket placement.
Although originally slated that two teams would qualify for Riyadh Masters 2023 with the $15 million prize pool, all four teams have already secured their place via the DreamLeague S19/S20 Average ranking.
