Fnatic takes the championship title and trophy at Dota Summit 12 after sweeping through OG.seed 3:0 in the grand finals.
Things may be a bit chaotic in the world right now but for Fnatic, there was a momentary pause in the anxiety and cause for celebration and focus on the good. The SEA took their first championship title of the new season at The Dota Summit 12.
Fnatic positioned themselves into the top slot of the groups, coming out just slightly ahead of OG.seed in the rankings despite having the same total points. With the first seed under their belt, their playoff run was even more impressive - taking down Team Liquid 2:0, besting Evil Geniuses 2:1 and then rolling over OG.seed 3:0.
The SEA team has had some difficulties finding solid footing so far this season. Although they have been able to secured places at both Majors so far (MDL Chengdu Major and DreamLeague Season 13 Leipzig Major), they have taken 9-12th place both times. They qualified for ESL One Los Angeles Major but they now must wait patiently to see what their future holds for that event as organizers scramble to find a new venue and date to hold the Major.
Their trip wasn't in vain, however, as the team will go back to their region with a title, trophy and a little pep in their step filled with more confidence and hopefully momentum before the fourth wave of DPC qualifiers begins in less than two weeks.
