Evil Geniuses parts ways with Zai and PPD

After one of the biggest upsets in the history of the International, Ludwig 'zai' Wåhlberg and Peter 'ppd' Dager have departed from Evil Geniuses.

Following a disappointing performance at TI 7, where Evil Geniuses were knocked down to the Lower Bracket by Newbee, and sent packing by Team Empire, Evil Geniuses has also utilized the post-TI shuffle to announce two changes, both to their company structure as well as their playing roster. First off, zai, the 4-position support player for Evil Geniuses this International, has decided to leave Evil Geniuses in the search of greener pastures. The Swede was not only part of the current Evil Geniuses roster formed after TI 6, but had also been involved with Evil Geniuses in the past as a member of the version of Evil Geniuses that placed 3rd at the International 2014 as well as joining them as a substitute for a short period of time.

Regarding his departure from the team, zai had to say the following:

This past year has been the most entertaining year of Dota I've had, playing with and being part of EG has been a wonderful experience. However, after reflecting on the year and this recent TI I can no longer see myself continuing with the team, and hope that this departure will benefit both sides going forward. I'd like to thank the supporting staff of EG for being ever so present and supportive, our devoted fans for cheering us on and last but not least, wish the new roster all the best for the upcoming season.

In other news, ppd, who had been CEO since TI 6, has decided to step down from his position to pursue other opportunities. Having been in Evil Geniuses since the brand picked up the original S A D B O Y S roster, the announcement definitely comes as a shock to most EG fans and followers of the competitive scene alike. Moreover, Philip Aram, who has been managing the Dota team for the last couple of years, will be taking over the position of COO.

Leaving EG will be bittersweet, but ultimately I see nothing but a successful future for both myself and the organization I am leaving behind. I want to thank all of the staff and teammates who I have been fortunate to work with over the last four years and will continue to wish them nothing but continued success. - Peter 'ppd' Dager, former CEO of Evil Geniuses and TI-winner

While only time will tell who Evil Geniuses has in store to replace a player of the likes of Zai, unconfirmed rumors suggest that Clinton 'Fear' Loomis, who is currently coaching EG, might be making a return to the support role. However, Evil Geniuses fans can only hope for this roster change to produce better results and prove to be more fruitful in the long run!

Current EG Roster:

Canada Artour 'Arteezy' Babaev
Pakistan Syed Sumail 'SumaiL' Hassan
United States Saahil 'UNiVeRsE' Arora
Denmark Andreas 'Cr1t' Nielsen
