Invictus Gaming fought well in the finals of the Esports Champions League against Newbee but failed to take the victory in the fifth and final game. With this, Newbee clinches the final title of year 2014.
In an extremely close BO5 series, Newbee took down Invictus Gaming after a dominating performance from Chen 'Hao' Zhihao on his Weaver in the final game, relegating IG to second place finish. With their success, Newbee managed to add yet another title in their impressive achievement list for the year 2014.
Both iG and NewBee showed a rather sloppy performance in the double elimination bracket of the playoffs. While NewBee managed to reach the finals losing a series, iG were sent to the Lower Bracket by LGD after a dominant 2-0 victory in the first round. However, iG bounced back and eliminated the favorites ViCi Gaming in a thriller best-of-three series that included a Techies pick by VG. The Lower Bracket finals saw both the rematch between iG and LGD, with Ferrari's gang avenging their first defeat with crushing 2-0 win that lead to the Grand Finals of the tournament.
