New format announced for The Summit 2

The five day Beyond the Summit hosted tournament will feature a new best-of-five single elimination format in the playoff stages. But first, all six teams will play the other teams once.

The Summit 2 begins on December 3rd and continues through to December 7th with defending champions Evil Geniuses attempting to defend their title in Los Angeles. This time they face qualifier winners Secret Team, Vici Gaming, Not Today, First Departure and redemption vote winners Cloud 9. The tournament bracket and schedule have just been released and introduce a new best-of-five single elimination bracket replacing the original double elimination format.

Opening with a group stage, the six teams will play each other once in a busy schedule that has nine games scheduled for the first day. The top two teams will go directly into the semi finals and await the remaining teams who begin in the round before.

The tournament, which has a growing prize pool of almost $300,000 was also in the news today following the possibility that Singaporean team First Departure could be without two members with Wilson "Poloson" Koh Chin and Galvin "Meracle" Kang Jian Wen struggling to make time for the tournament. Beyond the Summit have announced they will do all they can to get the team to the tournament, but will be forced to replace the team if a solution cannot be found.
