BOCE did have lots of surprises since none of the favourites got their tickets to the quarter finals with Virtus Pro, mYi, CCK and HoG being the ones who will cover the spots of the lower bracket.
Battle of Central Europe has a slightly unusual format. Each group played out two bo2 round-robins, and All of the teams that competed in the group stage advanced to the playoffs. The first team of each group were placed straight in to the quarter finals while the second and the third placed will start from the round of 16. The last place of each group will have to battle their way through the lower bracket.
Group A
The leading team in Group A is AlbumS with K- breaking even at three wins and 8 points each. With a totally even score, both teams had to play a tiebreaker to determine the first place finisher, AlbumS emerged victorious. HoG failed to score a single win during the groupstage, thus placing last in the group and leaving Lajons in third place.
Group B
HR.DotA 2 secured themselves the first place, as they won the direct encounter with VP Polar. The team around the recently lost captain, Goblak, was expected to finish first but failed to do so, but hey still placed second, ahead of M5.int and CCK. These two teams were forced into a tiebreaker match as they had the exact same score and an even encounter. M5 won the tiebreaker match, forcing CCK into the lower bracket.
Group C
In Group C BUHLOUroPb are leading the charge with Drakdraepare following their tracks. Similar to what happened in Group A, both these two teams had the same points but BUHLOUroPb got their ticket to the quarter finals with their win against them. The unexpected surprise of Group C is found in the last and second last place, where M5 and Virtus.Pro finished third and fourth accordingly. Many have expected that Virtus.Pro would have been those with the guaranteed place in the quarter-finals, but their single win did not allow them to.
Group D
Things in Group D are more clear than the other three groups with Ashock taking the role of an anhilator and going with only one loss to the quarter-finals. Second and third are Denial.Eu and PR with seven and six points respectively. The last place belongs to mYi, a team that was able to create some hype lately, unfortunately not so much in this tournament.
The BOCE groupstages offered a lot of surprises with many top favorites dropping to the bottom of their respective groups. This resulted in many groups being unclear regarding the overall outcome, forcing out two tiebreaker situations. Only group D saw a dominating performance, from an unexpected team, Aftershock destroyed Power Rangers and Denial without any issues.
The playoffs have already begun, as VPPolar was able to take down Lajons 2-0 in the round of 16.
