Vici and Invictus taking pole position as the Synergy pre-playoffs start

The Chinese round robin of the Synergy League ended earlier today with Vici Gaming having gathered the most points followed by Invictus Gaming. All six teams will move on to the bracket stage starting and will finish tomorrow.

The Chinese round robin division of the $50,000+ Synergy League started October 12 and lasted until today. A total of six teams played each other in best-of-two skirmishes, after which all the teams move on to the single elimination bracket stage. However, the top two teams will be skipping the quarter final round and instead head straight into the semi finals, leaving them one victory away from qualifying for the main event in Barnaul, Russia November 28 - 30.

The bracket will be played in its entirety tomorrow with four best-of-three series. The two semi final winners will, as mentioned, move on to the main event at the end of next month. The top four teams of the European division as well as the South East Asia's top two will be joining them there.

Synergy League China - Pre-playoffs schedule - October 23

08.00 CEST -- LGD vs DK -- (14 SGT, 02am EST)
11.00 CEST -- VG.cn vs (LGD/DK) -- (17 SGT, 05am EST)
14.00 CEST -- NewBee vs HGT -- (20 SGT, 08am EST)
17.00 CEST -- (NewBee/HGT) vs iG -- (23 SGT, 11am EST)

Vici Gaming looked prominent in the group despite losing the last game to NewBee, where the latter team had Sydm and Li substituting for the absent Hao and SanSheng. Invictus Gaming and LGD ended on the same amount of points but Invictus got the higher seed due to head-to-head advantage after beating LGD 2-0 fair and square during the stage. The new DK constellation continues to struggle versus other Chinese teams but will be given a second chance in the tournament since no team was eliminated in the first stage.

The point variations are due to the point system, in which a 2-0 victory scores three points for the winning team whereas a draw only gives one point.

The other regional groups are almost done as well, the last two matches of Europe conclude tonight. The last couple of South East Asian matches were pushed back a few days due to the server maintenance of the Asian Steam servers. South East Asia's groups will finish on Friday and the regional playoffs bracket will start on Saturday.
