The second day of WCA belongs to the past, after several delays and setbacks. Alliance and NewBee managed to take down Cloud9 and ViCi Gaming respectively, while both Invictus Gaming and Natus Vincere were defeated and eliminated from the tournament.
The second day of the World Cyber Arena has concluded and the first two teams have been eliminated. Invictus Gaming surprisingly fell to Team Malaysia, who displayed a very strong and convincing performance, while the TI2 champion seemed to struggle. The other team to drop out of the tournament is Natus Vincere. After a lot of technical difficulties and issues, the Ukrainians fell short 1-2 to LGD-Gaming.
Earlier in the day, it was Newbee that pushed Cloud 9 down to the lower bracket. The TI4 champions started the match off with quite a bad performance, going down 0-1 to the Drow Ranger Visage combo. They turned the tides however and came back stronger than ever and emerged victorious.
The most anticipated match of the day was probably Vici Gaming vs. Alliance. The TI4 runner-up has lately been dominating the Chinese scene and impressively pushed down iG to the lower bracket on day 1. While Alliance had only a mediocre online run, the Swedes were able to take down Team Malaysia convincingly on the opening day as well, thus making the clash more promising. Two close games with a lot of back and forth action ensued and Alliance was able to win both of them, advancing to the Upper Bracket's finals.
As for the Lower Bracket matches, Team Malaysia showed more character that iG during their clash, taking down the Chinese in two straight games (including an impressive Bristleback performance by Ohaiyo in Game 2). The second LB match between Na'Vi and LGD was plagued by heavy connectivity issues, forcing the admins to continue the second match locally. While both teams managed to snatch a victory in the best-of-three series, LGD proved stronger in the thrilling third game to eliminate the Ukrainians.
Tomorrow, the teams will continue to fight it out to determine the next two teams that will be eliminated from the event. Cloud 9 and Team Malaysia will fight survival, much like LGD and Vici Gaming. Alliance on the other hand will take on Newbee to determine the first Grand Finalist.
