The two upcoming international events i-League and WEC have both scheduled their LAN playoffs for the first two weeks of September, forcing the teams to choose which competition to join. Both offline events will take place on Chinese soil, with teams from all over the world.
With a vast amount of upcoming tournaments being scheduled for autumn and winter 2014, scheduling conflicts are always possible. However, clashes between LAN events are those with the most significant impact, as they sometimes force the teams to reconsider their participation in tournaments they would otherwise attend. This is the case for the two upcoming international competitions, World eSports Championship and i-League.
WEC's official announcement back in mid-July included the dates of the LAN finals, scheduled to take place from September 6th through September 8th at Yellow Dragon Stadium in Hangzhou, China. On the other hand, the i-League organization released more information about their own finals this week, with offline finals taking place from September 4th through 7th. This creates an uncomfortable situation for several teams, as both events will be held in China with participants from all over the world. Selecting which of the two tournaments to join will surely be a difficult decision for the teams. When it comes to the TI4 Champions NewBee, they announced intentions to attend WEC.
We currently have no additional information on the matter, but it seems that both i-League and WEC organizers have refused to reschedule their events. It should be reminded that these are two of the most prestigious events ever to take place in China, with both going over $100,000 in total prize pool.
