Titled Phoenix Reborn, the latest team documentary to come out charts the ups and downs of Newbee's road to the Grand Finals of TI. Having fought their way through a rough groupstage and the tiebreaker matches to avoid elimination, Newbee mounted quite the comeback to actually go on and win the tournament.
Newbee was only established four months before TI4, but after having to play an elimination tiebreaker they went on to win the historic eSports tournament. They took home over $5 million as a team and this is the inside view of the run up to TI and their road through to the Grand Final.
This documentary is the first in a series to be released by ImbaTV, looking at what they call "the best Chinese DotA 2 teams". It is a candid look at the tensions in training sessions, the discussions between games and the final jubilance at victory, with all games being announced by the Dr.Kleiner voice pack.
It is a good look at what it is like to play so closely with the same people everyday and the dedication it takes to win such a high profile tournament. Hopefully, as the first in the series, it is an indicator of more good films to come.
