MLG have announced that Dota 2 will not be part of the repertoire of games at MLG Anaheim in June, citing that there are too many tournaments in the short time period available before TI4.
In an announcement made by Adam Apicella, Executive Vice President of MLG properties, he has confirmed that Dota 2 will not be one of the three games to be featured at MLG Anaheim on 20-22 June 2014. MLG Anaheim will instead feature Call of Duty:Ghosts, Starcraft II and Super Smash Bros Melee.
He cited the fact that there will be multiple Grand Finals for Dota 2 tournaments concluding in June, which are ESL One, to be held in Frankfurt on 28-29 June, as well as Dreamhack Summer, to be held in Jonkoping on 14-16 June. Seeing that MLG Anaheim will be held in the weekend between these two major events, as well as the fact that the major teams will be forced to travel from Sweden to USA and back to Germany would put too much strain on them. As such, out of consideration for the players, their ability to attend the event, as well as the imminent arrival of The International 2014 after these tournaments, MLG decided to cancel Dota 2's presence at Anaheim.
Adam did clarify later that this is not the end of MLG's involvement with Dota 2 - instead, MLG will continue to engage the Dota 2 scene and provide more North American competitions as well as future Pro Circuits that will feature international casts.
