Biggest losers of Dota 2 patch 7.34e in pubs

A little over a week after the release of Dota 2 patch 7.34e, we look at the heroes that are the biggest losers of the patch.

We are at the 10 day mark after the release of Dota 2 patch 7.34e, and with nothing else released in the game after TI12, that is pretty much what we have to cling on to. A few days ago, we took a look at which heroes benefitted the most in pubs from the release of patch 7.34e. Today, we look at which heroes were hit the hardest because of the nerfs from patch 7.34e.

While looking at the winners, we can look at the heroes who have had the highest increases in win rate, as well as the highest absolute win rates. But while looking at the losers, it only makes sense to look at the heroes that have seen the biggest decreases in win rate. The heroes with the lowest win rates were never meta heroes to being win. All data has been taken from STRATZ.

Major Movers

The list below shows the top 10 heroes that have seen the highest reduction in win rate after the release of Dota 2 patch 7.34e. The hero that stands out while looking at the major reduction in win rate is Chaos Knight. His win rate in pubs has gone down by 5%, from a lofty 55.8% to 50.8%. Nessaj’s survivability in lane has taken a big hit after the nerfs to Chaos Strike. The previous lifesteal numbers for creeps on Chaos Strike were 18%/24%/30%/36%. CK could play extremely aggressively in lane and then hit creeps to heal up. Those numbers are now down to 9%/12%/15%/18%. But this isn’t just about the lane, it impacts his jungling sustainability as well.

The other irritating heroes to have taken a hit are Kunkka and Bristleback. Both of these are cookie cutter heroes for the Blade Mail and Heart of Tarrasque meta, and the nerfs from patch 7.34e will make it much easier to play against them.

Bristleback’s Quill Spray has been his main artillery since his new Aghanim’s Scepter upgrade in Dota 2 patch 7.34, and the nerfs will affect the damage output.

In recent times, Kunkka has been played as a tanky caster, emphasizing his spells. Instead of damage items, Aghanim’s Scepter, Aghanim’s Shard and Octarine Core have been prioritized on the Admiral besides the tanky items. That approach to Kunkka might take a hit with nerfs to three abilities.

All three of the heroes mentioned above are also Heart of Tarrasque builders, and the small nerf to the item impacts them as well.

But the surprising thing has been the lack of nerfs to Spectre and Spirit Breaker. At least Spirit Breaker is at a win rate of around 50% in pubs, but Spectre is one of the highest win rate heroes with a pub win rate of over 55%! No new patch is expected till the end of ESL One Kuala Lumpur and possibly even till the beginning of 2024, so prepare yourself for a few weeks with Dazzle, Nature’s Prophet and Spectre reigning supreme.

Lowest Win Rates

Although the lowest win rates in pubs aren’t an artifact of patch 7.34e, it is still interesting to see which heroes are not doing too well in pubs to avoid them. Below is the list of the 10 heroes with the lowest win rates in pubs after the first 10 days of the patch 7.34e.

All these heroes were popular in pubs and professional games not too long ago, and were nerfed accordingly. The only one of these that was a popular pick at TI12 was Pangolier. Doom, Rubick, Shadow Demon and Terrorblade made a few appearances as well.

Weirdly enough, Shadow Demon was not nerfed in patch 7.34e, but his win rate has gone down by 1.5%. It is possibly because the heroes he pairs up well with were nerfed in the balance patch.

While some parity has been restored to pubs, there still are more than a few broken heroes that have significantly above average win rates. But things are always a bit slow during this time of the year when The International has just ended and everyone is winding down for the holidays. While we wait for a new patch or Frostivus, the best policy in pubs is to grin and bear it!
