Despite OG.LATAM's disbandment, OG remain committed to the South American scene and will build a new roster.
Iconic organisation OG has released the entire roster of
OG.LATAM, its Latin American Dota 2 roster, parting ways with the Peruvian squad after just over two months of partnership.
“Now that the qualifiers in SA are over, we are allowing our players to explore their options upon the expiry of their contracts,” OG announced on its social media.
The European organization remains committed to the South American scene and has hinted at building another roster from the region, by continuing to work with the team’s coach, Juan "Vintage" Angulo, and manager, Luan “Luan” Tomaz Pereira.
“We will continue working with Vintage and Luan to make sure we have a strong project for the region, and we want to reiterate our commitment both to being involved in SA and to the excellence of OG,” the announcement added.
OG.LATAM was formed in late April this year, as OG set their sights on qualifying for the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025 and The International (TI) 2025 via South America–while still maintaining their European squad now coached by co-founder and two-time TI champion Johan “N0tail” Sundstein. OG had picked up the Perrito Panzón stack, which had won the DreamLeague Season 26 South American qualifier.
The stack comprised a mix of established and rising Peruvian talent: Hector Antonio “K1” Rodriguez,
Gonzalo “DarkMago” Herrera,
Mario “ILICH-” Romero,
Yelstin “elmisho” Verde, and
Joel “MoOz” Mori–a squad pegged as the organization’s main team by OG’s CEO, due to their accomplishments and pedigree.
However, their debut performance as OG.LATAM yielded poor results, finishing last at DreamLeague Season 26. They also underwent a last-minute roster switch-up in the mid lane as DarkMago was replaced by Santiago “TaiLung” Aguero a week before the crucial qualifier season began.
OG.LATAM’s journey in both the landmark qualifiers turned out decent but not nearly strong enough, placing second in the EWC 2025 qualifier and third in the TI 2025 qualifier–losing both to regional powerhouse HEROIC.
What’s next for OG.LATAM?
With the end of the qualifier season and no major tournaments guaranteed for OG.LATAM, the squad ultimately disbanded. OG will continue to manage two rosters, as the European squad looks to regain its footing in the region, while the new LATAM lineup has yet to be revealed.
The 2025 season has been just as rough for OG as in recent years, with the prolific organization continuing to miss out on Tier 1 tournaments and failing to qualify for TI for the third year in a row. This season’s campaign stung even more, as both of their rosters fell just short of qualification.
But fans will look forward to OG’s campaign in the second half of the year, with a seemingly recuperating European roster and a fresh South American lineup in the works.
