Gen.G, T1, Anyone’s Legend, and Bilibili Gaming advance to upper bracket Stage 2 at MSI 2025

Meanwhile, G2, FlyQuest, CBTC Flying Oyster, and KOI will fight for their tournament lives in the lower bracket.

The competition continues to heat up at the 2025 League of Legends (LoL) Mid-Season Invitational. Over the past three days, eight teams went head-to-head in Stage 1 of the upper bracket.

After all the dust has settled, Gen.G, Anyone's Legend(AL), T1, and Bilibili Gaming (BLG) remained in the upper bracket, while G2 Esports, FlyQuest, CTBC Flying Oyster (CFO), and Movistar KOI all drop to the lower bracket.

Here’s how all the matches went:

Gen.G defeat G2 3-1

Gen.G are clashing with Anyone's Legend in the Upper Bracket Round 2 of MSI 2025.

G2 took the South Korean first seed by surprise in the first game, by staying steady on taking map objectives throughout the match, despite Gen.G trying to push some aggressive plays. As G2 already had some momentum, they were able to execute some great team fights that pushed their advantage. Gen.G continued to find opportunities through other objectives like Atakhan, but the South Korean team still fell in a fight at the Baron pit. Finally, G2 sealed the deal after taking the Elder Drake, G2 were able to find the opportunity to march down the Rift and take down Gen.G’s Nexus in 32-minutes.

However, in the second game, Gen.G were more confident, overpowering G2 on all sides, with Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon and Jae-Hyuk “Ruler” Park popping off. After a 31-minute stomp, Gen.G took down G2’s Nexus to win the second game.

The onslaught continued in the third game, where Gen.G continued to corner G2 on every occasion, with Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu’s Lee Sin dominating the map. And in just 27-minutes, Gen.G once again destroyed G2’s Nexus to win the third game.

Both teams picked up the pace in the fourth game, going for team fights and keeping up with the pace both teams had set. However, Gen.G excelled in the sidelines and confidently engaged against G2, so that the European team fell behind. Eventually, Gen.G won the fourth game in 30 minutes to win the series, 3-1.

Anyone’s Legend crush FlyQuest 3-1

Anyone's Legend have pushed FlyQuest down the Lower Bracket after a dominant showing in Round 1 of the Bracket Stage in MSI 2025.

In Game 2, AL shifted tactics, locking in off-meta picks like Yorick and Trundle that caught FlyQuest off guard. Despite a few early setbacks, they maintained pressure across the map. With a clean dragon stack and a Baron to boot, AL dismantled FLY’s base in 28 minutes to even the series.

Game 3 saw a slower start as both sides played cautiously. The first dragon didn’t fall until the 13-minute mark, claimed by AL. FlyQuest held a small lead in kills and traded well early, but their composition faltered against AL’s scaling core of Sion, Azir, and Braum. Objective control slipped through their fingers, and AL steadily tightened their grip before walking it down at 35 minutes.

By Game 4, drafting woes continued for FLY. AL built their comp around a strong Poppy-Aurora combo, giving Shanks the chance to shine. The early game was close, with trades across the map, but AL gradually built a gold lead that FlyQuest couldn’t claw back. With superior teamfighting and objective control, AL closed out the game in 32 minutes to secure the series win.

Bilibili Gaming defeat KOI 3-1

Chance for revenge? Bilibili Gaming faces T1 in the Upper Bracket Round 2 of the MSI 2025.

BLG found picks against KOI in the early game, despite KOI taking first blood. However, both teams continued to fight back and forth, taking kills in side skirmishes, with BLG building a gold lead toward the mid game. As they did, they were able to effectively bully KOI out of map objectives and oppress them in team fights. And after a 36-minute encounter, BLG won the first game.

In the second game, both teams were on equal footing in the early game but it was KOI this time that had better synergy in team fights, putting BLG in the backfoot in the late game. Successfully executing team fights in their favour, KOI took control of the map and kept their gold lead. After a 30-minute encounter, KOI were able to take down BLG’s Nexus to win the second game.

However, BLG bounced back in the third game, bullying KOI throughout the match, and clinically taking map objectives. Although KOI fought back and took some wins to try to get back to the game, it was still BLG who had the upper hand until the end. And after a 37-minute slugfest, BLG won the third game.

In the fourth game, KOI refused to be bullied, answer BLG back in every aggressive encounter. Both teams kep equal footing until the late game, with BLG continuing to attempt aggressive plays and KOI answering back with kills as well, and even overpowering BLG in a fight for the Baron, which allowed them to get the gold and kill lead. However BLG kept their cool, and after punishing KOI’s mistake, BLG were able to turn the tides and take down the Nexus of KOI in 40 minutes, despite the being slightly behind in gold and kills, to win the fourth game and the series 3-1.

T1 outlast CBTC Flying Oyster 3-2

Heavy is the crown - pressure is mounting as T1 will face Bilibili Gaming in the Upper Bracket Round 1 of  the MSI 2025.

In the first game, CFO came out swinging, dominating the early game. However, T1 were able to find a way to bounce back and swing the gold lead to their favour, while CFO banked on keeping the kills even so that the South Korean team woiuldn’t run away with the game. However, T1 continued to outsmart them. And in 36 minutes, T1 destroyed CFO’s Nexus to win the first game.

In the second game, CFO were able to find an answer against T1’s team composition, allowing them to dominate team fights, leaving T1 little room for a comeback. With better synergy and cleaner team fights, CFO were able to destroy the T1 Nexus with a sizeable 24-3 kill lead.

The third game went in CFO’s favour as well, with the LCP champions snowballing in the early and game. In 29 minutes, they demolished T1’s Nexus turret, to win the third game.

Refusing to back down however, T1 challenged CFO in the fourth game with a better rounded draft and better team fights and skirmishes. This time, it was T1 that dominated, allowing no room for CFO to get a comeback. But while it seemed like T1 was winning CFO continued to push on, taking every kill they could in every encounter in an attempt to close the gold lead. But T1’s lead continued to grow despite CFO’s efforts and after a lengthy, bloodbath with T1 taking 34 kills against CFO’s 19, T1 destroyed CFO’s Nexus to win the fourth game, taking the series to Silver Scrapes.

The fifth game decider was as intense, with both teams hungry to stay in the upper bracket. However, T1 ran away with the gold lead early on in the game and oppressed CFO throughout the map. Eager to win the series and close out the map, T1 successfully obliterated CFO in team fights. And in just 24 minutes, T1 destroyed CFO’s Nexus to win the game and the series 3-2.

With their wins, Gen.G will face Anyone’s Legend in round 2 of the upper bracket while T1 will go head-to-head with Bilibili Gaming.

Meanwhile, it will be a battle for survival in round 1 of the lower bracket with G2 and FlyQuest facing off while CFO will go against KOI.
