Here is the early estimation of whether your PC can run Counter-Strike 2 smoothly or not.
After weeks of numerous rumours and teases, Valve finally unveiled Counter-Strike 2. It is indeed real, and it is the free replacement for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO). The announcement has erupted the CS community with anticipation, hype, curiosity, and many questions. Of which, are already answered in the game's FAQ page on steam.
But one burning query not addressed is the system requirements for the PC first-person shooter. Can your current PC run the game smoothly? What would be the recommended specs?
Counter-Strike 2 PC system requirements
The game is already available but only in a limited test, where the official explanation is as such, "players are selected based on several factors deemed important by the Counter-Strike 2 development team, including (but not limited to) recent playtime on Valve official servers, trust factor, and Steam account standing.”
Though Valve has yet to reveal any official specs about the system requirements, it has shed some details on the minimum requirements needed to run the superior Source 2 engine. And by cross-checking that specification with a couple of sources that are participating in the limited test, here are our estimated minimum requirements to run CS 2.
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit
- Processor: Above 6M cache and 3.5 GHz, e.g., Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD Radeon R7 265X
- Memory: 8GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 or AMD Radeon HD 7850
- DirectX: Version 11
- Sound Card: DirectX Compatible
- Storage: 60GB available space
Do note that the Counter-Strike 2 limited test only supports Windows and this is by no means an indication that the game won't be available to Linux and Mac users by launch.
