The first winners match of the group stage brought the biggest upset so far. Luminosity Gaming managed to beat up the major title defenders, Fnatic. In a back and forth match, the Brazilian squad managed to stay more focused and outplayed the Swedish superstars.
The match was played on de_inferno and was opened really well by the Swedes on their T side. Winning one after another, Fnatic was looking incredibly dominant and Luminosity Gaming were forced to call for a time-out. Following the conclusion of that time-out, Luminosity made a comeback to 7-7, which was more than anyone could expect from them in this half. In the end, Fnatic took an 8-7 lead at the end of the first half.
The second half was opened by another good pistol round performed by Fnatic, but everything turned against them when Luminosity won a complete eco round. Without armors or grenades, the Brazilian team rushed into the A bomb site and cleaned everything infront of them, surviving with all five players and snatching Fnatic's devices. From this moment on, Fnatic was struggling to get back into the game, which eventually escalated to a 16-13 score. Fnatic will now have another chance to secure a playoffs spot in the match against Cloud9, while Luminosity Gamign will be moving on to the playoffs.
