13:55 - That's it for today! The semi finals will start on Thursday:
Some photos from Fomos.kr:
13:55 - Jinro interview:
Q: You made top 4, say some words
“
First it was the round of eight and the S-code, now round of 4, I'm so happy”
Q: In game five your opponent didn't get thermal lance, how about that?
“
I'm happy he did that mistake, it sucks for him, but good for me”
Q: You made the top four, your next opponent is MC, what are you going to do to prepare?
“
The same I did for this one, there's not much I can do, maybe try to play a little differently, hopefully I can come up with something that will surprise him”
Q: How do you feel about your chances?
“
Not that good, his PvT is really good, but I'll try my best ”
Q: What was going through your mind, being up 2-0, then 2-2?
“
When we got to game five I thought, why Blistering Sands? (laughs),
I focused really hard, and with some luck it's possible, and I had some luck, so it feels good”
Q: How does it feel having thousands of nerds getting up early or staying up late to watch you, feeling tired going to school the following day?
“
I feel a bit guilty, but it's a good sign for e-Sports, it's good”
13:46 - GG from choya, Jinro moves on to the semi finals!
So happy, hugging his mates of oGs;
13:46 - BIG BIG BATTLE in the main of Jinro now, and Jinro gets the best of it, choya lost almost all of his units, now it's Jinro chasing him back to his base.
Jinro is on 200 units, choya on 100, huge mistake by choya attacking there.
13:45 - choya engaging pushing Jinro back to his expansion, but backs up later and takes down the rocks of Jinro's second entrance.
13:44 - Both players are about to be maxed out now, and are tipping their toes around on the map, a big battle will eventually happen - this is intensive.
13:43 - Jinro is making siege tanks while harassing with a banshee in the main of choya.
choya with no thermal lance still, probably forgot about it.
13:42 - A move command blunder by choya lost him a colossus, and his entire army got EMP'ed.
13:41 - choya seems to be moving out now, he does not have the thermal lance upgrade for his colossi, and Jinro has a few vikings and just recently landed a command center at the golden expansion.
choya has to do something really soon to have a chance at this.
13:39 - Jinro is around 20 supply ahead of choya. choya looking to stay with his signature 2-base build again.
Jinro has his ghosts hidden in a corner.
13:37 - Jinro tries to go for a push, but nice force fields take care of it, and Jinro backs up. Jinro still in a lead though, as the banshees did a lot of damage harassing probes.
13:35 - choya does not have any detection, and has just started his robotics when a banshee with cloak arrives, and is free to do whatever it wants.
13:34 - Two dark templars arrive, but a turret on the cliff of Jinro reveals them, and one of them dies, the other one escapes.
Both players are expanding now, with Jinro having a slight lead as the dark templar tech failed.
13:33 - choya is making a dark shrine, a reaper from Jinro actually got into the base, he didn't see the dark shrine, but he saw the twilight council, and responds in making a starport and an engineering bay.
13:32 - A sneaky probe hides in the Terran base, Jinro looks all around his base, but does not find the probe, and the probe can later see exactly what's going on.
13:28 - Jinro vs choya - Game 5 - Blistering Sands
The fifth and final match of today is on Blistering Sands. We have choya as the blue protoss in the top right position, and Jinro in the bottom left as the red Terran.
13:24 - Moments later, choya warps in zealots to Jinro's expansion from a hidden pylon, does some harassment.
Another battle, and choya traps the terran army very nicely, and GG from Jinro.
It is 2-2, is Jinro losing this after looking so good going up 2-0 against choya?
The fifth game will decide.
13:22 - choya made a nexus while Jinro's SCV was scouting, to later cancel the nexus, tricking Jinro into believing he's expanding outside his main.
Now Jinro is engaging, not going to well for him, losing all his vikings, he did get two colossus though.
13:20 - choya attacked the ramp of Jinro, but not doing enough damage and backs up. Jinro is looking to drop, but changed his mind and sent it back.
Jinro is expanding now.
13:19 - A banshee harass in choya's main, it gets four kills and backs up, surviving the hits from the stalkers.
Both players are still on one base only.
13:17 - choya just walking through the bunkers at the ramp of Jinro, but Jinro nicely takes them all down, nice defense from Jinro.
13:15 - A proxy pylon has been put down by the golden expansion to the left of Jinro's base.
In the meanwhile, Jinro is getting a starport, and no other action really going on. A factory scouts the Protoss base, and a robotics facility is being made.
13:12 - Jinro vs choya - Game 4 - Delta Quadrant
Jinro spawns in the bottom right corner, and choya in the top right corner.
13:10 - choya's army was too much for Jinro, and trapped the terran army, GG from Jinro and it's 2-1 for Jinro now, and we'll have a fourth game.
13:09 - choya is now moving out. Finds Jinro's army in the middle, chasing him back to the main base of the Swede.
13:08 - Jinro has the map control, knowing that choya is not getting a third base, while Jinro's third command center is about to finish.
A drop from Jinro got taken out though, fully loaded.
13:07 - Both players are just macroing up, so there's not a lot of action going on. Jinro is getting ghosts now as well.
13:05 - Jinro seems to have a great understanding of this match, making a lot of biological units, knowing Protoss will counter him with colossus, and is now making two starports for vikings.
13:03 - An immortal is being made for choya, while Jinro has made four barracks, relying on a heavy bio army.
13:01 - Jinro is getting a fast expansion, while he also sends out two marauders for some pressure early.
choya is also putting down his expansion, will be a little later than the command center of Jinro.
13:00 - Jinro vs choya - Game 3 - Metalopolis
Jinro starts out in the far left side position, and choya on the right side position of Metalopolis.
12:48 - All the sentries were emp'ed, and Jinro managed to do a successful push, and choya had to call GG, and is now down 2-0 against Jinro.
12:46 - Jinro is landing his command center at the golden expansion and makes a planetary fortress. The nexus for choya is about to finish at his golden expansion.
The game is still pretty even, but Jinro has a slight advantage.
Jinro's vikings constantly try to snipe the colossi.
12:44 - choya engaging, but Jinro doing a very nice job picking off colossus with his vikings, and is now ahead in supply and counter attacks the golden expansion of choya.
Now choya chasing Jinro back. None of the players have a third-base running yet.
12:44 - choya is making a nexus at the golden expansion, while Jinro is about to make his own third-base at the golden expansion.
12:43 - choya now engaging, has a lot of units, vikings are out, and choya does not have a lot to counter the vikings with and backs up.
12:42 - choya now moving his units around on the middle of the map, and is currently just massing units off of his two-base, and has stopped making probes.
He is about 30 supply ahead of Jinro.
12:40 - a medivac is loaded with two marauders and four marines, arrives at the protoss main, but stalkers were waiting for him and he has to retreat.
12:39 - Jinro is making a ghost academy, most believing choya is going for high templars, when he is in fact making colossus.
12:38 - Jinro holds it off nicely. While the dark templar action was very intense, choya put down an expansion, and the game is pretty even right now.
A robotics is up for the Protoss, and is looking to make colossi. Jinro is making a starport.
12:36 - Dark templars are out, but no engineering bay up for Jinro, though it's being made now, about to finish.
Scan goes down, and the SCVs surround the dark templar.
Another Dark templar incoming, a turret about to finish.
12:35 - Dark shrine, it's going to be dark templars. Jinro has made another command center, and orbital command is about to finish, which means he will have two orbitals for scan, but he just wasted one at the main base of choya.
12:34 - A hidden pylon is being made for choya, as well as a second gas when Jinro's SCV left the base. A twilight council is being made by the hidden pylon.
Dark templars, charge-lots, or blinked stalkers. But two geysers probably means it's not going to be charge-lots.
12:32 - Unorthodox play by choya, who's making gas before the gateway. We'll see what this leads to, could be some blinked stalker rush.
12:28 - Jinro vs choya - Game 2 - Xel'Naga Caverns
Jinro spawned in the bottom position, and choya in the top of Xel'Naga Caverns.
12:28 - Jinro is going for a huge attack now, bringing a lot of SCVs as well, while Protoss has his expansion up.
Nice force fields, a point defense drone has been put down, Jinro attacks his way in and takes the first game, GG, and 1-0 for the Swede!
12:25 - The factory is now spotting the entire Protoss base, and Jinro knows exactly what's going on.
Back in Jinro's base we see a starport. The factory will die though, while choya is making an expansion.
12:23 - choya stole of the geysers of Jinro, while Jinro is now making a proxy factory for scouting later. Nothing out of the orinary going on.
12:21 - Jinro vs choya - Game 1 - Steppes of War
The first game is on Steppes of War. choya as the blue Protoss in the top right position, and Jinro in the bottom left as the red Terran.
12:19 - The next match is another PvT, this time between the Swede, Jinro, and choya of fOu.
12:13 - MC interview:
I didn't catch the first question unfortunately, the whole interview was kind of hard to transcribe actually;
Q: Will you have to replace the Zealot action-figure you broke in the booth?
“
It was already broken, so it wasn't my fault
- thanks to sax.paranoia for the first question and answer
Q: MarineKingPrime is a difficult player to practice for, what was your practice methods, and who did you practice with?
“
my team, oGs, and STC”
Q: What's your best advice dealing with the marauders?
“
Making a cage with the force fields”
12:08 - MC high-fives the crowd, and happily moves on to the semi finals.
12:07 - MC cleans up that base, and takes the fourth game, winning the series 3-1 against last season's runner-up, FoxeR.
12:06 - MC is feedbacking the ghosts, good job from the Protoss putting on a ton of pressure on the third base of FoxeR.
12:04 - It seemed really bad for FoxeR, but he obviously has an incredible macro, and is just 10 supply behind after that big loss.
FoxeR now looking to take his third base, while Protoss has had his one up for a long time.
12:03 - Beautiful storms when FoxeR engages.
More storms, and MC is pushing him back all the way to the main base of Terran.
12:01 - The Protoss wants a third base, but he gets spotted by FoxeR, and the nexus is canceled.
A ghost academy is up, and high templars are out for MC.
11:59 - MC tries to engage with his main army again, but FoxeR again holds it off. An amusing factory has landed in the expansion of the protoss, and a hellion is out doing some harassment.
11:58 - A Dark Shrine is being made for MC, while he pushes the expansion of FoxeR, new nice force fields. Though he pulls back the army.
A dark templar engages, but a scan takes care of him, and another one arrived just too early and was revealed from the first scan.
FoxeR has done a good job holding off all the early pressure from MC.
11:57 - MC has pulled back his army, and is looking to expand. A nice little detail from FoxeR though, delaying the nexus with an SCV and a engineering bay.
Stalkers takes care of that eventually though.
11:55 - MC is trying to get up the ramp, but pulls back as the marines and marauders are dealing too much damage, but he engages yet again.
11:53 - This is not looking good for FoxeR, a pylon has been put down outside the expansion of FoxeR, and stalkers are warped in.
MC is taking down the rocks, allowing him to just walk into FoxeR's base. Nice force fields put down, and the command center is lifted off.
11:52 - Four gates for MC, who is now also putting on some early pressure with a zealot and a stalker. FoxeR has five marines to defend.
11:51 - FoxeR is not making any gas, and is looking to fast expand. He does not make a wall-in either though.
11:49 - MarineKing vs MC - Game 4 - Jungle Basin
MarineKing, aka FoxeR, spawning in the bottom position as the red Terran, and we have MC, the blue Protoss, in the top position.
11:45 - FoxeR is losing so much from this, and only has two SCVs left, while MC is comfortably making a lot of probes in his base, and GG from FoxeR. 2-1 for MC.
FoxeR upset after that very short game
11:44 - The zealot is in the base now, no marines out yet to defend.
One marine out to defend along with the SCVs, another zealot arrives.
11:43 - MarineKing vs MC - Game 3 - Blistering Sands
MarineKing in the top right, MC in the bottom left, but for how long? MC is making a proxy gateway right at the expansion of FoxeR.
11:39 - We're soon back from the commercial break, and the third game is about to start.
To quickly summarize the two games so far I guess we could say that in the first game FoxeR tried to fast expand in the first game on Lost Temple, but the pressure was too much from MC. FoxeR did however have a few units on their way to the Protoss, and with those marines in the base instead things could've looked differently.
The second game was a failed proxy barracks rush from FoxeR, but he managed to win the game anyway, relying on one-base play.
11:33 - The two colossi were not enough to defend against the forces of FoxeR, who moved in, while vikings picked off the colossi, and GG from MC. 1-1!
11:32 - FoxeR managed to take down the expansion. A colossus is out now while FoxeR continues to pressure.
In the meanwhile, zealots have been warped into the Terran base, doing a nice job harassing the mineral line. They are taken care of now though.
11:30 - The warp prism has settled at the rock-blocked expansion inside FoxeR's base now, while FoxeR is moving out with a lot of marauders, but MC has an immortal, and a lot of force fields.
11:29 - MC does some pressure from his pylon, warping in units into the Terran base. FoxeR holds it off though.
MC has a Warp Prism now, and his Nexus has finished.
11:27 - MC kills the barracks in the middle, and is in a nice lead after FoxeR's early pressure failed. A robotics is up for Protoss now, and a nexus is being made at his natural expansion.
11:26 - FoxeR is making two more barracks, and keeps on making marauders in hte middle. MC is moving out with four stalkers and a zealot.
11:24 - FoxeR makes a bunker outside the protoss base, while he's pressuring with marauders, but probes and a zealot takes care of it pretty nicely, and now a stalker is attacknig the bunker from the high ground, and the bunker goes down.
11:23 - FoxeR puts up a proxy barracks in the middle of the map by the Xel'Naga Tower, but MC scouted the Marine king early, and smells something's up.
Early gas as well for FoxeR, and marauders are being made now. MC is making zealots.
11:22 - MarineKing vs MC - Game 2 - Delta Quadrant
The second game is on Delta Quadrant, we have FoxeR top right, and MC bottom right.
11:19 - The high pressure was too much for FoxeR, MC warped in more units, and more void rays arrived, forcing a GG out of FoxeR. 1-0 for MC and Aiur!
11:17 - A lot of action inside the terran base now, zealots warped in taking out marines, while void rays do the rest.
One void ray goes down, and the other two are on very low health. But FoxeR has lost a lot to this push. Another void ray goes down.
11:15 - FoxeR managed to kill a stalker when MC engaged, while MC is getting his Stargate finished, and has put down a pylon outside the Terran base, just in range to warp in units inside the main of Terran.
11:14 - No gas yet from FoxeR, who is now putting down his command center at the expansion instead of making it up on his cliff.
MC tries to send his probe back to the Terran base, but three marines are guarding the front, and MC does not know about the expansion yet. A stalker is on the way though.
11:11 - MarineKing vs MC - Game 1 - Lost Temple
The firsrt game is on Lost Temple. We have the runner-up of season two at the top mid position as the red Terran, and the "suicide toss", MC, as the blue Protoss in the bottom mid position.
FoxeR is starting out, making a wall on the low ground.
11:09 - As I said, the first game is MarineKing vs MC. We haven't seen a lot of TvZ from FoxeR, so this is going to be awesome. Oh and for your information, I will refer to the MarineKing as FoxeR, I just love that nickname, and it's easier to write than 'MarineKing'.
Here are the players getting ready;
11:05 - Artosis said that Rain actually went up on the stage after yesterday's matches and apologized for the way he won. Touching.
11:01 - The stream is live!
I got my coffee, I put all my minerals on Jinro today, a total of 138 minerals will make 355 minerals richer if I get it right.
10:40 - Good morning GosuGamers!
I am so tired right now, and I will have to go make some coffee.
We have MarineKing (that is FoxeR) up against MC, and choya vs Jinro (!!) today, both PvTs.
Get pumped!
