GSL Season 3 - Quarter finals
December 6th, 11:00 CET
IMNesTea | 2-3 | TSL_Rain FruitDealer | 2-3 | HongUnPrime
Q: You defended beautifully in game four on Lost Temple, is that something you've done before, or something you made up as the game went on?
Q: Do you have any other goals than beating FruitDealer and making carrires? (his earlier, achieved goals)
Q: Do you have anything to say to your large foreign fan-base?
The evolution chamber has just been started, dark templars cutting their way through zerglings. Spore is soon up in the main of FruitDealer, but it goes down before it finishes.
GG from FruitDealer, both of the champions are out, no more Zergs in the tournament, and HongUn moves on! 3-2!
***
The answer; Dark Templars.
FruitDealer spawns in the bottom left position of Blistering Sands, and we have HongUn, obviously, in the top right.
HongUn holds it off, and is now moving in three void rays. Four queens there to defend him.
The void rays does the job, and GG from FruitDealer, and another fifth deciding match today.
Now moving out, firing at the forge at the Protoss wall.
The fourth game is on Lost Temple, FruitDealer in the top mid again making the pool first. HongUn in the right position.
HongUn is blocking FruitDealer's ramp with two pylons and a cannon again, and gets the nexus at his expansion.
In the meanwhile, this drone is eating fruit;
GG from HongUn, 2-1 for FruitDealer.
The third game is on Shakuras Plateau, horizontal positions, with FruitDealer in the top left, and HongUn in the top right.
***
HongUn is making a fast expansion, while FruitDealer again made the pool first, and is now getting a roach warren.
The burrowed banelings exploding
FruitDealer realized it was not enough, and GG'd. 1-1.
***
FruitDealer is actually making a lot of zerglings and a baneling nest, and will most likely go for a bust.
FruitDealer manages to bust the front of the Protoss, and gets a lot of zerglings into the Protoss base, but HongUn holds on.
The second game is on Scrap Station with FruitDealer in the top position, and HongUn in the lower position.
FruitDealer counterattacks, and HongUn GGs. 1-0 for the season 1 winner.
The protoss force was not enough against the FruitDealer.
***
Void Rays forces another cancel from FruitDealer.
***
A lot of hydralisks are out, and HongUn pulls back his forces. A very nice counter from FruitDealer.
Fruitdealer is now making a hydralisk den to counter the void rays coming at him any minute now.
The first map is Steppes of War, the FruitDealer spawned in the top right corner as the red Zerg, HongUn, the blue Protoss, in the bottom left.
***
A forge goes up first for HongUn, and he's blocking the Zerg ramp with two pylons now, with a photon cannon behind them.
In the meanwhile, the players are about to get ready:
Q: NesTea is known for his outstanding macro, did you do the all-ins because you don't feel confident against his macro in the later game, or was there any other reason?
Q: Did you practice against FruitDealer for this match since he is your teammate, and it's possible you meet him in the semi finals
Q: What Zergs were you practicing against then, meeting up with the reigning champion?
***
NesTea does a decent job, Rain survives the first push, but his marines used a lot of stim and took some damage, and NesTea is still holding on in this game.
The expansion for NesTea is not doing anything. NesTea has a lot of zerglings though, will try to counter attack Rain, but Rain has walled in his base, and is going in for the kill, inside the Terran base with his marines now, though Zerglings clean it up.
Rain has his expansion up now, but there is a theoretical possibility for NesTea to come back in this game, but the chances are slim.
NesTea spawns in the bottom left, and Rain in the top right of Xel'Naga Caverns.
***
The game is starting out like the other two games Rain has won in this series, Rain doing two barracks. Different this time though, is that Rain is pushing out with bunkers.
GG, 2-2, and we're going to the fifth and final game of the series.
The fourth game in this best of five series is on Blistering Sands. We have the red Zerg, NesTea, in the top right position, and Rain, the blue Terran, in the bottom left position.
***
NesTea is getting his hatchery up first, while Terran has not made a refinery yet.
Rain is now far behind, only got his third base up, but lost a lot of SCVs to the couner attack. NesTea in the meanwhile is taking his fifth base.
***
GG from Rain, 2-1 for NesTea.
Now he's back at the fourth though, moving out with a huge army, while the swarm is waiting with a lot of banelings. NesTea kills a decent amount of the army, but Rain is still alive, but it's not enough to engage as more banelings and mutas are incoming.
He did however get out of there alive, and didn't lose as many marines as one would first think.
***
NesTea is getting a very early third-base, while Rain is getting a lot of barracks. In the meanwhile NesTea got a nice surround on a group of marines, and now counter attacks Rain with the zergling, and things are again not looking good for Rain.
After a commercial break we're finally back, getting ready for the third game in this best of five. We're on Shakuras Plateau, it's diagonal cross positions, NesTea bottom right, and Rain in the top left.
Queen goes down, nice micro from Rain and GG from NesTea, 1-1.
The second game is on Steppes of War with NesTea in the top right, and Rain in the bottom left position.
***
NesTea opens with an early hatchery, while Rain is making a barracks out of his base, closer to the middle, to get on the early pressure.
***
A ton of units engaging Rain's army, and NesTea gets the best of him, taking the first game. GG, and 1-0 for the reigning champ.
Rain actually is in the lead now, looking to take this game, but he is still on two-bases. He killed the second base of NesTea, and from the cliff he's now harassing the golden expansion as well. He's sending reinforcements, and is taking out the rocks at his golden expansion.
***
NesTea's macro is incredible though, and has 40 supply more than Rain.
Now NesTea has a huge lead with a lot of mutalisks.
It seems like Rain is doing a bunker/tank push instead of dropping the cliff.
The first game is on Lost Temple, we have NesTea as the red Zerg at the 9'O clock position, while Rain, the blue Terran, is at the bottom mid position.
While we wait for the games to start, let's enjoy the fine tunes of Hoffmaestro:
