The StarCraft twitter page has just added an update that should boost optimism for everyone about the beta. They have provided a link to a video at IGN of the Jace Hall Season 3 Teaser, which has a very special few seconds toward the end. In that brief period of time, we see the StarCraft 2 team raising their beer bottles in a toast – but that’s not the most noteworthy of features in the clip.

In the background there is a screen of the new Battle.net with the words “Welcome to StarCraft II Beta” at the top. That’s right, the development team of the long-awaited sequel is celebrating what can only be assumed is the completion of the beta, or at least that they are prepared for a future release.

Blizzard Entertainment has also been promising a limited number of beta keys to fansites devoted to their new game. TheWarCenter.net has acknowledged that Blizzard is showing their appreciation to their website by providing them with beta keys for five members of their staff, giving them the deadline of January 28th to submit the information. The indications that beta is near just keep piling up.
It’s easy to remain skeptical about an upcoming announcement of the date of beta; after all, fans have been disappointed before. The community is clearly growing impatient, but there’s no denying the increase in positive signs. With Blizzard’s broadcasted press conference a couple weeks away, February 10, 2010 is looking to be a date that all fans should mark on their calendar.
