Interview: The King of Kings

[s]interview[/s]

Every single person in the world has at least one king. This is period. You may ask your friends in school, your relatives at home or people sitting around you in a movie theater, there will always be an answer - sometimes straight, in others not. If you consider StarCraft then the answer will not only be fast but also pointing to the king of the kings - Boxer.

Each sport has its kings. Pele for soccer, Michael Jordan for basketball, etc. Each of those named "kings" achieved this status due to incredible and remarkable conquests which clearly separate them from the rest of the humans.

And when you think about our beloved game, many if not all will say that Boxer is with no doubts the king of the kings. So an interview with him is always something worth to mention, and in this case this is such a huge one. The show was hosted by KBS 1TV in May 2nd this year.

At teamliquid.net forum UnitedStates instantbunz posted a great translation of the interview. Here some quotes of it:

// Lee Geumhee - one of the show hosts:

"An annual salary of two hundred million won. A fan club of over 600,000 members. This is not the story of a sports star or a popular singer. But the interest and ovation for this twenty-six year old can be viewed as more passionate than any other popular star. A new icon in the Age of the Internet. The leading figure in the wave of e-sports. We will power-interview the Emperor of Terran, Lim Yohwan."

// The King - Lim 'Boxer' Yohwan:

"When I was an amateur, I've practiced up to three days straight, but now I don't have that kind of strength, so I practice about twenty hours a day."

"Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, Pelé, and Lim Yohwan. They've all received the title as Emperor."

"I still take care of them - even when I drink and may be a little drunk, you know how some people might punch the wall or do something rash? I will just stop before going to the wall, saying, 'Oh yeah...this is my rice scoop' (meaning the way he makes his money) and I'll stop."

"When I hear sayings like, "Does progaming really bring in money?" or "Is progaming a real profession?", it makes me sad, and I wonder when these words will disappear. And I feel I have the responsibility to make sure these words go away."
