Jinx's visual update makes her a crazier, more flamboyant character and we're here for it.
2XKO, Riot’s upcoming fighting game, has finally given a sneak peek at the all-new Jinx, who is joining the 2XKO playable roster for 2025. Her gameplay sneak peek was posted on social media on Tuesday (12 November).
This follows the premiere of Act I Season 2 of Arcane, the League of Legends animated Netflix series. Jinx first appeared as a champion when 2XKO was still called Project L, but was notably absent when the name 2XKO was revealed. It was revealed by Riot in October that Jinx got a visual update just in time for Arcane Season 2’s release.
Although the video starts with a few short clips of Jinx in Arcane, her official 2XKO design is based on her default LoL skin. Compared to her appearance in Project L, Jinx’s facial expressions and movements now feel closer to her character.
The new Jinx has a manic expression and a wide smile that makes you think she’d be up to no good—which is pretty much in character. Even the way Jinx walks, and how her body reacts to the recoil of her guns is similar to how her LoL version behaves. We also see some of her skills mirror her LoL skills, like her famous Chompers, her rattling gun Pow-Pow, and Fishbones.
In 2XKO however, Jinx also has a few surprises of her own. When Jinx uses Fishbones, her famous rocket launcher, she aims it toward her enemy and launches a rocket that sends her enemy upward, complete with colourful fireworks—much like how she set off explosives in Arcane Season 1 and the music video of “Get Jinxed.” Some tricks featured in the Sneak Peak also heavily reference Powder and Jinx from Arcane.
The most pleasant surprise comes in the form of her ultimate, Monkey Tank. The monkey’s head resembles “Powder’s Wind-Up Monkey” except that it reveals a long cannon launcher in between its teeth.
What’s next for 2XKO?
Upon Jinx’s gameplay reveal, the 2XKO devs also took the opportunity to update the fans and playtesters. According to game director Shaun, before the next playtest, the team will be working on improved controls, decreased downtime from being hit by combo attacks, and more opportunities for team play and champion interactions. The next Alpha Lab or playtest will launch in Spring 2025, and will open playtesting to more regions.
You can sign up for the next Alpha Lab on the 2XKO website.
