Even Netflix is getting on the GTA 6 hype train.

Netflix is officially adding Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition to its games platform on December 14, 2023. This includes the remastered versions of Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which will be further optimised for mobile gaming. As is the case with all Netflix games, subscribers will get access to the games at no additional cost.

GTA lands on Netflix

Anticipation for Grand Theft Auto 6 is in overdrive at the moment, following Rockstar’s announcement that the sequel is getting unveiled in December. As such, this is likely a bid for Netflix to capitalise on the hype in any way it can. Parts of the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy have been playable on mobile platforms for years now, but this bundle includes remastered visuals and tweaked gameplay for modern times. You also won’t have to pay for it, so long as you’re already subscribed to Netflix.

It’s a smart move to get in on the GTA 6 hype while it’s still mounting, and pump up awareness of the Netflix Games platform at the same time. One can only imagine how much the company had to shell out to make this happen, though. The trilogy of games will be playable on the App Store, Google Play Store and Netflix mobile app. You can pre-register to play the games on all three platforms now.

The remastered trilogy had an incredibly controversial launch back in 2021 due to a bevvy of bugs and glitches experienced by players across all three games, but Rockstar has been steadily patching the remasters to alleviate these problems. The new features still seem to make it worth revisiting for old fans, as the games now feature lighting upgrades, high-resolution textures, GTA 5-like controls and targeting, and increased draw distances.

In case you haven’t heard, GTA 6 is rumoured to follow a Bonnie and Clyde-like duo of protagonists in Vice City, GTA's in-universe version of Miami. If you’d like to get an early taste of its setting, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is included in this remastered trilogy.
