Lucifer cruises to victory in ZOTAC #257

After last week's epic finals between Lucifer and TH000, it's fair to say that this week didn't quite match up.

It was always going to be difficult for this week's ZOTAC finals to live up to the last one. TH000 and Lucifer played out an intense, entertaining and highly-rated series in which the human player barely came out on top. This week, against a weaker opponent, Lucifer absolutely dominated. All three games were similar, and Twisted Meadow set the tone. Reprisal got an expansion up fairly easily, but was under pressure as soon as Lucifer could muster up a few fiends. Reprisal tried to hang on with too few footmen and was unable to do so. The deciding game was over pretty quickly and very decisively, giving Lucifer an easy first win.

Amazonia was little different. The larger map allowed Reprisal to get his expansion up, but it was under siege from fiends almost immediately. The human player tried to counter-harass with his Archmage and elementals but didn't really accomplish anything useful and ended up losing his mostly-undefended expansion. With Lucifer so far ahead, Reprisal then lost his Archmage as his Mountain King tried to town portal out of a fight, at which point he had had enough and the players moved on to game three.

Unforunately, Turtle Rock brought more of the same, but worse. Reprisal tried to expand despite close spawns, and was stopped by a vigilant Lucifer. Both players teched late, but the human was the slowest and when Lucifer rolled into his opponent's base with a couple of fully-charged destroyers, Reprisal had nothing but two towers to defend with and quickly conceded game three.
