Recently announced on the World of Warcraft forums, Blizzard will soon launch a preview of the new website similar to that of Starcraft II's website sometime in early November and begin the transition to the new forums at that time. The new website will contain features for blogging, gaming guide and brand new forums.
Blizzard has made it certain that they are going to give a timeline to the community to prepare for the transition to the new forums.
- Two weeks after the new forums have been open, both forums will be open for posting. The requirements to post are still the same.
- After the testing phase of the new website is over, all topics on the old forums will be marked as "read only"
- The current forum system will be completely removed some time next month to finish the transition to the new community website and forums. At that point, all communication will be moved to the new website
NOTE: The only forum excluded to the points above is the Cataclysm Beta Forum. People with access to the Cataclysm Beta Forums will be given notice of when the Beta Forum will move to the new website.
Make sure you save any guides, threads, or your favorite special announcements by Blizzard before the forum is removed!
Pre-Cataclysm Changes
As stated by Zarhym, a Blizzard poster on the World of Warcraft community website, the changes to pre-cataclysm are being taken very slowly because Blizzard does not wish to hit us with all these changes at once. But do expect changes to be coming, including more intense earthquakes, and new developments. Blizzard will keep us updated with new events coming up. However, he does say:
In fact, by the time the shattering of Azeroth takes places shortly before the release of the expansion, we might have to apologize for blowing your minds.
Deathwing Wreaking Havoc Over Azeroth
Just recently it was announced in a blue post that Deathwing will be wreaking havoc over Azeroth in random zones on the Cataclysm Beta Server. The only warning you will get is the sky turning black before he destroys all creatures in that territory. A feat of strength is available for surviving his flames.
