Former Dota 2 pro Xepher moves to MLBB to coach Alter Ego

Another former Dota 2 pro player has moved to MLBB and become a coach.

Former Dota 2 professional player Kenny “Xepher” Deo has been introduced as the new coach for Alter Ego Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) division. The coach was formally announced after a teaser showing him looking at his past achievements. He will lead the squad for their upcoming tournaments and, for the moment, the MLBB Professional League (MPL) Indonesia Season 15.

Prior to his move to MLBB, Xepher last played for South American Dota 2 team Leviatan before retiring in early November. He started his Dota 2 career with RRQ in 2015 before joining TNC Tigers in 2018. He would then break out with Geek Fam and T1 before returning to Indonesia with BOOM Esports. He also had a stint as the assistant coach for Blacklist Rivalry, the now-defunct Blacklist International Dota 2 team.

The inclusion of Xepher into the MLBB professional scene extends the list of former Dota 2 players who moved to the MLBB scene as coaches in Indonesia. The first was Dolly “SaintDeLucaz” Pelo, who led Team Liquid ID to their first MPL Indonesia title. The second and third former players are in RRQ Hoshi, Alfi “Khezcute” Nelphyana and Rasyid "NMM" Perwira.

In addition to them, there is also the current Fnatic ONIC coach, Adi "Adi" Asyauri, who took the name Acil when he was in RRQ's DOTA 2 division.

Aside from the Indonesian former players, there is also one recognized Filipino former Dota 2 player who jumped ship into the MLBB scene, Kenneth "Flysolo" Coloma. He currently coaches See You Soon MLBB's division.

Xepher will partner with REKT to lead Alter Ego. Currently, no announcement has been made regarding the Alter Ego roster for their upcoming tournament.
