With Geek Fam and EVOS Glory's victory, RRQ Hoshi and Liquid AURA were eliminated on the first day of the MPL ID S13 Playoff.
Unfortunately, Liquid Aura and RRQ Hoshi must leave the Velodrome in Jakarta, Indonesia after being eliminated from the MPL Indonesia Season 13 playoff. Their journey ended after Geek Fam ID and EVOS Glory eliminated them, respectively.
Geek Fam defeated The King of Kings after a gruelling 3-2 victory that, at one point, almost became a reverse sweep for RRQ Hoshi. The once-saviour of the kings blindsided them in the play-in to secure their place in the double-elimination series in the playoffs.
The fams took the lead first through their unique style of play. Allen Jedric “Baloyskie” Baloy, who had been underrated for so long, dictated the play in the series' first two games. Completely dismantled in Game 1 by Baloyskie’s Helcurt and Caderaa’s Harith, RRQ Hoshi made the same mistake by letting go of both Geek’s signature heroes in the second game, and the same result happened.
Learning from their two losses, The King of Kings recuperated by banning Helcurt, and the result was instant. The loss of burst and Helcurt's superior vision impacted Geek’s gameplay, which needed to rely on Mathilda for a quick rotation. This gave space for RRQ Hoshi to recuperate and gain momentum in the next two rounds.
The last round was a roller-coaster for both teams as Geek’s signature heroes were, again, banned by RRQ Hoshi. Momentum was clearly behind the former MPL Indonesia champion as they dominated the early stages of the play. However, as time went by and the kings made mistake after mistake, Geek didn’t let the chances go away and, painfully, ended their opponent.
When tight and intense was the theme of RRQ Hoshi and Geek Fam’s battle, the same can’t be said about the bout between Liquid AURA and EVOS Glory. The White Tigers massacred Liquid’s newest division by a 3-0 clean victory against them. If the second half didn’t count, EVOS Glory's victory was a much-needed statement that they were there to win it all.
The first match was a clinic between both of these teams as they traded blows after blows using their heroes' advantage. Liquid opened with the speed of their rotation, but EVOS Glory countered with their pick’s survivability. This trend lasted until a mistake from Liquid opened the gate for the tigers to pounce and secure their victory.
The second and third games weren’t as exciting as the first match. Liquid AURA looked for ideas on contesting EVOS Glory’s tight-knit defence. None was found for the supposedly favourite of the two as they bowed out of the MPL Indonesia S13 playoff.
Who will emerge as the champions of MPL Indonesia S13?
