Mobile Legends: Bang Bang has just joined forces with the Esports World Cup as it is revealed as the first competitive title.
Having known for some time that 2024 would be a break-out year for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, as the game seeks to move away from its Southeast Asia-centric standpoint and take on a more global audience, things are happening fast. Today, January 23, 2024, it was revealed that MLBB would be the first competitive title for the Esports World Cup – joining in the mix with a host of other epic titles. This collaboration with EWC is a massive achievement for the game, and Ray Ng, the Head of the Esports Ecosystem at MOONTON Games had the following to say on the partnership,
This collaboration marks a new chapter for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and the global esports ecosystem. We are thrilled to partner with the Esports World Cup Foundation and go beyond our horizons to Riyadh. Alongside teams from new participating regions, this year’s iteration presents boundless opportunities for more regions to participate, in line with our vision to expand MSC and MWI to foster greater diversity and inclusiveness.”
As MLBB takes flight, this year we will see both the Mid Season Cup (MSC) and the MLBB Women’s Invitational (MWI) head to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – leaving the SEA shores for the first time. With this comes some changes to the tournament format, as the Wild Card event featured at the M5 World Championship will now play a role in MSC too. Alongside this, the tournament prize pool has rocketed upwards to a massive $3,000,000 to be split between the participating teams. MWI will also see some changes, with 12 regions from across the world now fighting for a prize pool of $500,000.
While MSC will come to us between July 1st and 14th, the dates for the MWI have yet to be announced – but will surely attract thousands of new fans with this bold new collaboration. There is a ton of information still to be revealed from MOONTON for 2024, as they reach higher than ever before.
