With a home-ground advantage at the M5 World Championship, AP.Bren is ready to put themselves back on the global stage and dominate.
This year at the M5 World Championship, we have already seen some big changes, such as the addition of the Wildcard Tournament and the return of the CIS region to international Mobile Legends: Bang Bang events. However, one of the biggest returns is that of AP.Bren, who have been missing from the M-Series ever since the victory of Bren Esports all the way back at M2. However, the Philippines team has recently been on a high and they will look to convert that into a dominant performance on their home soil.
The team
FlapTzy
Michael Angelo “KyleTzy” Sayson
Angelo Kyle “Pheww” Arcangel
Marco “SUPER MARCO” Stephen
Rowgien Stimpson “Owgwen” Unigo
Vincent “Pandora” Unigo
AP.Bren’s mix of players is one that seems to be perfect for the team, putting together long-standing veterans of MLBB such as Pheww and FlapTzy with newer members such as KyleTzy and SuperMarco. However, it did take this team quite some time before they got the ball rolling, with some poor performances with the MPL PH tournaments – up until 2023, where they seemed to really hit their stride. While sometimes struggling, this iteration of Bren seems to have their eye on the prize as they push forward into M5.
The M-Series
Although we may not have seen Bren in the M-Series for some time, this is mostly a different team than they fielded at M2. The two veterans of the squad, mentioned previously, come in as ex-champions but have not seen the M-Series since their victory back then – while the remaining team members will all be at their first-ever event. With that said, Bren’s recent domination of MPL PH Season 12 proves that this team is ready to take on the world, and what better place to do so than in the Philippines.
The formula
Two players from the AP.Bren squad needs to be mentioned, more than the two veterans – that being SuperMarco and FlapTzy, who are only 17 and 19, respectively. These two players have been of utmost importance in the team’s recent form, showing up just when needed in the Land of Dawn and turning the tides on their opponents. During the recent ONE Esports MPL-Invitational 2023, both RSG PH and ECHO did extremely well to stifle AP.Bren’s domination and teams will be looking to do the same when it comes to M5 in just a few weeks.
As a Philippines team, Bren definitely become one of the favourites to raise the M5 World Championship title, especially after we have seen it going to that region each and every year since M2. However, with MPL-I showing that they are breakable, Bren will have to work a lot harder, especially with some strong opponents in Group C.
