South Korea is now looking to be the favourite to take home the gold in League of Legends at the upcoming 2022 Asian Games.
The 19th instalment of the Asian Games will be the first time esports is officially added to the docket after it was part of a demonstration event at Jakarta and Palembang back in 2018. League of Legends will be one of the first esports title to make its debut in the Asian Games and South Korea are looking to assert its dominance with its finalised roster.
The Korean e-Sports Association (KeSPA) officially released the roster that featured six, star-studded players that will represent the country. This will include players from two of the LCK's best organisations as well as the recent Mid-Season Invitational champion, JD Gaming.
And the very first player on the list is none other than Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok of T1 alongside his teammates, Ryu "Keria" Min-seok and Choi "Zeus" Woo-je. Joining them will be Park "Ruler" Jae-Hyuk and Seo "Kanavi" Jin-hyeok of JDG and lastly, Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon of Gen.G Esports. He will be the sixth man of the squad.
The Korean national team will also be led by none other than one of League of Legends' most iconic coaches, Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun, whose resume includes two MSI trophies, three summoner's cups, and eight LCK titles.
While the lineup does look solid and well-rounded, this does mean that many other LCK superstars have been left out. And given the amount of talent the LCK has at its disposal, it could very well field a second team that can match the first lineup.
