Day four picks us up where we left off as we focused on Group A exclusively for the day.
Royal Never Give Up just continues to grow from strength to strength as they dismanted both Pentanet.GG and Unicorns of Love with relative ease, securing their top seed spot heading into the Rumble Stage.
We'll be doing things a bit differently from now on as the rest of the group stages are focused on a single group for the remaining days. Today, our focus is solely on Group A and the undertakings all three teams have done thus far.
Royal Never Give Up
After winning their first three games of MSI 2021, RNG went on a rampage earlier today, beating both Pentanet and UOL twice to strengthen their hold on the top spot. RNG did not miss a step throughout the group stages, able to avoid defeat eight different times.
To sweeten the deal, not only have RNG already secured their spot in the Rumble, but they also get a good few days rest seeing as they have no more games to play. This gives them ample time to study up on their potential opponents, most notably DWG KIA and MAD Lions who are on a three-game winning streak as well.
Pentanet.GG
The team from the down under came into the tournament as one of the underdogs but they have somehow managed to keep themselves in contention. While the score suggest otherwise, Pentanet were vital in keeping their tournament hopes alive by taking two games away from UOL.
Sharing the same score, Pentanet went into the tiebreaker with great confidence, They were able to take hold of the match and eventually see it out, thus booking their place into the Rumble as well.
Unicorns of Love
It all seemed to be going right for UOL. After starting off day one with a bang, many thought the CIS dark horses would be able to hold their composure during the group stages. Unfortunately, that has not quite panned out for them so far. They've only managed to win two games, both of which came against Pentanet.
This leaves them with a 2-6 score in the group stages, putting them last in Group A. Their only silver lining was that they had a tie-breaker with Pentanet.GG, who were also on the same score after losing their last game of the day against RNG. Unfortunately, their run in MSI 2021 ended today at the hands of Pentanet.
Still to come...
Tomorrow is all about Group B as we edge closer to finding out which teams left will be taking their place in the Rumble. Can MAD secure their slot after a blistering start? Can PSG hold on to second place? Be sure to check back tomorrow for the full breakdown!
